Help Please?
« on: July 08, 2009, 08:17:59 pm »

hey guys im new to the forums and new to anim8or.. i understood it easily exept for the figure maker stuff.. so what i was doing i was online looking for anim8or models and i found posable figures so i downloaded them.. they had a figure with it so i went to the figure mode and imported it.. yet when i move a bone it doesnt move that part of the character.. it confuses me  ??? .. i think im saving the whole object to one bone or something.. but idk how to seperate it so i can add each object to its bone... and truthfully i stink at making my own models and i want my animations to look good.. not generic.. so please help!!

What you need to do is skin you model. Skinning is applying faces of you model to bones to make them move. Skinning can be done using bone influences or weight painting. Read more about it in the manual: http://anim8or.com/manual/5_figure_editor.html#skinning

Sounds to me like you're importing a model that's a complete mesh rather than built of several objects right? You have to start with the rooth bone and add the figure to that, then add in the rest of the bones, or if the bones are all there already then start adding the influences those bones will hold over the mesh itself.
