Some questions...
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:48:41 pm »

Hi! I am very new to Anim8tor and I want to know please some things about it... First I want to create an object with some labels on it like a bottle with some ads on it... but i don't know how to add these kind of textures on it... which are placed just on a part of the object and not all the object.

And second I still don't know how to better control the objects positions. So after I change the position of a bottle from its starting position I found is very hard to bring it back in that position. I tried to introduce some coordinates like 0-0-0 to x-y-z axes but these don't work. Also in scene mode I found it is super hard to move correctly the objects... now I use only the screen coordinates and the axes buttons(which is very annoying by the way)...

ensure you have some faces where you want the labels ,highlight the faces and apply your texture image to that.
its best to move your object around with the green circle rotation tool.
rather than object rotation tool.
if you highlight/select your object and access the location options in the edit menu
that might help in future.
also see the tutorials at the top of the general thread to speed up your skills/knowledge, you wont regret it.

Thanks, but what is the green circle rotation tool? And where I can find it?

Personally I think it is better to select some faces, then edit / detach faces, so that you have a separate label. Then copy paste the label, and move it forwards a tiny bit. Join solids/ merge points to put the old label back on the bottle again, keeping the new label as a separate object.

you should go to the tutorials on the website. Do each tutorial in this order: Egg Plant, Hand, and Robin. That is how I started Anim8or. When you have done those tutorials start experimenting and searching for other beginner tutorials. Sooner or later you will start getting use to it. Good luck C:

Iulian81 first thing you should do on the forum is reading the forum guide lines and the Manual
These will explain the basic questions and shows you where to find answers. After reading those two and you still don't have you answers, come back here and start a new topic (not 5! ... one).

howdy and welcome to anim8or. i know a lot of these replys arnt what you were looking for. but realy, dont make the mistake alot of new users make,(myself included) anim8or is a easy to use program but steve has yet to make a "create star wars" button. though the tutoreals can be boring, take the time to go though them before you try your production.
