Steve, just as a small question of my curiosity, what will be your main goals or features you want to put into 0.97 / what are you thinking about trying to put in next?

He usually doesnt tell us in case it doesnt go as planned. he doesnt like getting our hopes up.  All we know I think is that he's rewriting a lot of the modeling tools. 

An update of some kind would be nice though.

agreed, an upadte soon would be nice. But the question more so was, what he wants in it, rather than what he's going to put in it. I just keep hearing others opinions on what should be in it, so I wanted to know what he wants in it.

You will just have to wait until he releases it....
I think steve himself doesn't even know what all will be in the next version. He will post one if he considers it stable enough.
Till that time you will just have to be patient...;)
