I'm encountering a very annoying bug.
« on: March 24, 2008, 07:23:16 am »

Now this only happens sometimes, but when I press either "Save" "Save As" or "Open" the program shuts instantly without any warning, resulting in a loss of work.

As I said, this only happens sometimes, and I don't know what causes it.

Sorry I can't be more specific... this is really all there is to say.

(Windows XP, 900Mhz, 20GB Hard Drive, 384Mb RAM, Integrated graphics card - Savage4)

which version of anim8or are you using?
are you using XP SP2/3?
it might happen if your system is under a lot of load

What Tanzim about thye system being under strain  is so true - I was having that problem, plus some veeery long render times - turned out my power unit was underrated - replaced it with a higher rated one, added a fan and all's well :)

Wow, a weak power supply!  That's a hard thing to diagnose.  Good job, Tanzim and Roygee.

Aah that does make sense... thanks guys.  ;D

I'll probably invest in a whole new computer soon anyway... the stats of this one are plain embarrasing.  :)

yeah, i can see why... although, it could be worse.  20gb hdd, you say?  well, two computers (and about 5 years) ago, i had one with a mere 4gb hard disk, and i have no idea what the processor and ram were, but they must have been miniscule - and i still had the... what would it be?  naivety?  gullibility?  rashness?  whatever... to try and run anim8or on that!  of course, it didn't work very well, the system just couldn't handle it!  :P

My first computer was a (pre-built) P3 @ 800MHz with 128 MB of RAM, bought in 2001 for $2000 or something, my dad got ripped.
Nowadays, for $1600 you can build your own machine, and a really good one at that, but weather you build one or buy one from the shops is up to you, I pefer building, because you have more choice on what you want and it's usually the cheaper option if you don't kill the hardware while your building it!
