General Anim8or Forum / [Question] Soft objects, Particle, and Physics?
« on: October 14, 2008, 11:14:03 am »
 ;DHi again

I have a question:
I saw in some animations objects that seem to be soft, for example, in the intro of Kingdom Hearts 2, there's a crystal-like thing that Sora was in, and he put his hands on this, and his finger became "flat"...
I don't know, but the models (The glass and Sora) look to be very complex to just make a morph, so I wanted to know, is that made manualy, or it's possible to have a way to make the model react in that way (like boolean substraction, difference, or whatever) ?
I know computers do almost everything, but I'm not sure  ;D

Another think I saw is that the people become spore (I don't know if it's the right word), is that particle effect?

Aw, and in the same video, there's a part, where Kairi is on the beach, and one of the fingers touch the small finger and this one reacts strangely(like it has no bone), this is physics in this animation, right?

I'm a bit curious about things in animations :P

 :D Hi
Steve, when you started programming?
Which language you  learned?

I'm in a technical school, and my course is software development, and I learning Java since the begin of the year.
Until next year our programs are all in the console, next year we'll learn to make GUI's
I wish be a Game Programer (characters moddeling and the program itself) and study Artificial Inteligence...

Hi!
How can I make the preview(the workspace) and rendering work faster?
I mean, which component makes the difference?
Video card, processor, RAM?

I had 1 gb in ram, so update that to 2gb, but the redering still in the same speed...
So I think it isn't the last one :D

And which mark/serie of video card/processor is good for it?

Thx!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Render Area Preview
« on: September 22, 2008, 12:29:37 pm »
Maybe this Ideia could be not that helpful for everyone, I don't know,
but maybe...

I mean sothing like this:

This could help if the person has to render a complex scene, but want to see, for example, the shadow in that area...

For me that could really really helpful...

of course, the options (like AA and stuff) could continue in the window and the render, be shown in the normal place, that was just an example

:) Thats it
Thx for reading

 ;) Hi!
I was thinking about a button that just with a click would make the texture turn to the same direction of every face, like "lathe" automaticaly does, it could make the work easier than exporting to / importing from external programs. :P

Another think I thought was something like this...

(I)Reflection of Light, if you put a mirror under something that does little, a little part of it is reflected somewhere, as a watch does with the sunlight, you know =P
And you can see as well, in a room, there's only one window, althought you can have a lot of shadows, because the light is reflected from the wall, that is reflected in ground, etc...
(this could take a long time to render, I know...)

(II) Lighting from face, think that there's a computer screen, all extension of its screen make light... Or the sky, all the extension of it makes a blue light, and it's hard to make the sky with infinites spotlights =\

Thx, and Good Afternoon!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / [suggestion] Shadows
« on: May 07, 2008, 12:45:14 pm »
Hi!

I'm really gratefull! The Art Raytracer is great!
But I can't use soft when I use reflection...
It would be very cool (but,I know, will make slower rendering) use these two options together ^^

Another thing is about shadows in transparent things... would be nice if the shadow seems more opaque or transparent depending of the material
and that "glass effect" would be a great idea too, I mean the light that changes the colour when pass through the transparent object:

I know that some of this suggestion can be hard to do, but are just suggestions ^^
Thanks for your great job, Steve!

And sorry if I wrote something wrong... I'm just learning english yet ;D

Bye
