General Anim8or Forum / Re: .Obj failing to import
« on: January 11, 2013, 04:59:07 am »
After converting the object into an .fbx, then reverting it back to an .obj, Anim8or was able to import it successfully.
As Raxx proposed, this could suggest that the object contained additional information, or was structured in a way that Anim8or was unable to understand.
Though I currently do not have the time to confirm with absolute certainty that this theory is accurate, the conversion process has appeared to fix my problem completely.
Thank you all for your input and effort.

General Anim8or Forum / .Obj failing to import
« on: January 10, 2013, 05:27:20 am »
I am trying to import an .obj into anim8tor, this object is a grass mesh made up of many flat, unconnected, triangular shapes.  This object has 151540 polygons. When I try to import this I get an error message saying "Error reading file." When I reduce the polygon count of the same object to 4820 it imports successfully. I am assuming this is because anim8or has a limitation to how complex a mesh it can import at one time and I was wondering if someone can confirm this.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Blunderbuss

Here be a gun.

A blunderbuss, to be accuratish (It was sort of mix-and-match design wise).
It was meant for a game, but as that has gone metaphorically sideways I thought id share it here instead.

And just in case you cant quite make out the inscription because of quality. It reads: Window Maker.
Because due to its rather large octagon-shaped caliber, a window is what it makes, in the bodies of wooden dummy, paper targets and other non-living, indifferent, non-carbon/silicon based groups of matter.

Thankyou.

Here is the second version of the knight.
He now has bump maps on every thing metal as well as his tunic. I dont think it shows very well on the chainmail.
Ive also given him a new sword, and made his helmet have a slant on the bottom to make it less "can like", but i like the simplicity of his helmet so it wont be changing to much.

P.S. There are 3333 faces used in this model (not including the sword).
