Finished Works and Works in Progress / Lonely Robot
« on: July 31, 2013, 04:08:30 am »
Here is the latest of my work. It's a WIP, I'm going to change up the scene composition a bit in the future.

It's actually a test for another project I'm working on for the farther-off future. I created a 3d panoramic image with a $0.99 app on my iPod touch sitting on a tripod with a mount; the wonder's of free and incredibly cheap stuff!
More info about my process soon. Of course this isn't perfect, there's quite a bit of work to do (re-do).
I mean, what, you actually thought the robot was THAT tall?

General Anim8or Forum / So to be honest...
« on: July 26, 2013, 01:59:05 am »
I cannot get back into animation! I was a VFX freak, but I got sick of making stupid 'gun videos' of me running around the house shooting myself with terrible FX, scripting, acting, etc. I wanted something more, but I didn't have the time or brains to learn animation AND compositing in a close enough time to run a YouTube channel. I've been using Anim8or for a long, long time (to me, at least), and sadly, I have to say that my drive for animation in any capacity is gone.
If anyone wants to collaborate, DO message me here, I'll still be around and commenting, heck, I may even model some stuff every once-in-a-while. Thanks, guys.

P.S. YES I am looking for collabs, I do music mainly now.

General Anim8or Forum / "add all keys"??
« on: February 19, 2013, 04:02:31 pm »
Hey, everyone! Right now, I'm working on a game, and I'm in a situation where I think things can be a bit more efficient; I want to be able to add all of the keys to my bones at once, forsaking the need to set each bone manually. Is there any automatic, or quick-and-easy way to do this?

Thanks!

General Anim8or Forum / Teach Me FUR!!!
« on: December 17, 2012, 04:42:26 pm »
Hey, everyone! I'm working on a pretty complex character model for an upcoming animation (hopefully next October is the release). He a big furry guy, and I need help learning methods for 'furring'.
I have seen the alpha mapping method, but I have never figured out how to get the maps wrapped around my character in a convincing way. Could anyone help?

ASL Scripts / Where is MIRROR ALL?
« on: October 02, 2012, 01:59:29 am »
Hey, everyone. Today I started cipping away on these cool shades below. However, I'm using essentially all subdivisions, and don't really have the patience to convert everything to meshes individually, mirror individually, then resubd.
(yet I somehow have the patience to wait 24hrs from a reply from some guy on the internet.)
Where can I find the mirror all script? I'm actually fine with it if it only works for meshes- as long as I don't have to do each individual piece, piece-by-piece. Thanks!

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Wiggle Cam Expression???
« on: October 01, 2012, 01:52:56 am »
Hey, everyone. I'm working on a cool new car-themed project in which I'll need a shaky camera. I just don't want to do it in post because I want to retain depth and what-not. So, is there an expression out there that will let me achieve a shaking camera?

Preferably something like an earthquake, or maybe even just a slightly randomized wiggle that I can modiy the properties off?

Thanks, everyone!

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Centura - The Car of the Future
« on: October 01, 2012, 12:23:33 am »
So, a loooong while back (months ago, probably), I began the basic modelling of this strange futuristic sportscar. It IS of course, a hovercraft (how's the future without 'em?). I tossed up a quickie render in ART, no AA just to show what we're essentially looking at at the moment.
In the final, it'll be a video advert (seiously this time, not the lie I told on my last project) depicting some sweet footage of this thing ripping through a tunnel. Have a look below at what I've got so far.
(also, sorry for the bad quality- didn't know Anim8or had pretty bad native .jpg output quality)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Speakers Design
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:14:32 pm »
I'm working on modelling a realistic desktop environment. You can see I used ART for reflections. I'm neglecting shadows at the moment until I'm done with primary modelling. i'll later turn it into an advertisment for the speakers, with shallow DOF and the like of professional quality and photorealism. Tell me how it's looking (both model- and render-wise) so far!

General Anim8or Forum / NOT RESPONDING????
« on: August 24, 2012, 06:05:56 pm »
Sup, folks. Right now, I'm designing the animated logo for a company or which I am a part, and I'm using An8 to do it. I have an animated character walking, but here's the problem-
I Can't actually play the scene, because I get a 'Not Responding' error once it begins. The animation is shown still playing perfectly in the background, worst of all, so I can tell it's still working.

I'm on Win7 x86, running An8 in Comp mode WinXP SP2.

General Anim8or Forum / Edge Properties??
« on: August 16, 2012, 05:26:36 pm »
Hey, everyone. I just got around to noticing, or rather, caring, about the Edge Properties dialog for the first time. I was looking at the smooth, creased, and rounded options... And
I don't get how rounded works! Does the mesh have to be sudivided before I can set the roundness? Could someone please help?
Thanks!

Finished Works and Works in Progress / gas mask wip
« on: July 17, 2012, 04:17:27 pm »
Hey, everyone. Right now, I'm working on designing this gas mask as a movie prop. I used half a soda can and a bottle cap to make the respirator on the mask, and the main body of it is a paper surgical mask that I'm hardening.

But I'm stuck on a color theme... (photos are below) Should I paint the bottle cap silver and the can black, or vice-versa? (btw, the mask itself WILL be black)

General Anim8or Forum / Looking for a Modeller!
« on: July 04, 2012, 04:47:51 pm »
Hey, everyone!

Right now, I have a friend who is under development of a 3D game for his company. He requested that I take the job as Lead 3d Modeller, but I respectfully declined, as I'm not so skilled at it. I'm looking for someone fitting these guidelines;

1) Is creative, dedicated, motivated
2) Is good at modelling based off of a pre-determined vision (concept art, sprites, etc,)
3) Is willing to work for free (until further notice)

If anyone is able to step forward and claim the job, please email me at davdud 101 @ rocketmail . com  (no spaces. did it just to avoid getting spammed.)
Thanks!

General Anim8or Forum / Anim8or IRL??
« on: June 26, 2012, 06:47:50 pm »
Heyhey, friends. Last night I watched a documentary on Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) and the major visual effects and animation work they do on many big films. (for those of you who wanna know more, look them up.)
So I've always been interested in combing live-action with computer animation. That's where the community comes in!
A free 3d camera-tracking software is out there called VooDoo. While my personal experiences with it have generally been a little disastrous, lots of other people have combined live footage and 3d with it and got quite pleasing results. I read a short thread elsewhere online about voodoo being a good tool in the toolkit- Steve himself commented on it.

So to sum up this thread, I want to find a way to transport these tracked 3d camera movements into anim8or and use them as the camera.
Any ideas? Scripts? Tools? Thanks ;)

ASL Scripts / Script Request!
« on: June 20, 2012, 07:16:13 pm »
Hey, everyone! A friend of mine and myself are working on a live-action and animation-crossed short film. We're using Anim8or to do it, but we're planning on having tons (parhaps hundreds) of a single of object in a scene at one time. We pretty much need them to do these two things (seperately)

1) Move up and down independently on the y-axis
2) All flow towards one point (object, target, etc.)

I know, it sounds quite overwhelming of a task, but we definetly won't be able to hand-animate every single on of the little guys.
Anyone willing to take up the offer, gain some scripting experience, and get a screen credit?
