I would name your latest build Anim8or 1.0 Version

0.98 in my opinion satisfies all of the objectives you apparently set forth for Anim8or at the start. The program is reasonably stable and more than covers the basics of 3D modeling, rendering and animating for which the program was designed. As a user, I have depended upon Anim8or as my go-to 3D program for creating storyboards and basic concept models. The sheer speed and simplicity is in itself elegant and unique and I believe is unmatched in the world of 3D software. I find myself coming back to Anim8or, time and time again when I need speed and freedom of mind. I would not sell this program short with any further partial version numbering. I would suggest also that awarding this build the title of ONE, will motivate and inspire to take things to the next level.

Okay, I resolved the font issue with an earlier build of 98 (2014). The white box issue remained. I'm going to regroup and dig into this a bit more.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Hi Selden, Steve. No complex shapes - I drew some simple splines, a square, a shape with about 10 knots, very simple spline shapes each resulted in a blank white square. Regarding the text issue, the Anim8or manual suggests text needs to be converted to a spline:

http://www.anim8or.com/learn/manual/3_object_editor.html#true_type_fonts

"Since text items are actually a group of (possibly) complex splines, text can also be combined with splines and filled. First select the text and convert it to splines with the Build→Convert-to-Spline command. Then ungroup the string of characters with Build→Ungroup. Finally select the spline along with all of the individual characters and combine them into a single multiple spline with Build→Join-Splines. Then fill the result:"

Thanks for the input, I believe I might be having a video card driver issue here.

Thanks
DD

Hi All,

I do not see this issue previously mentioned, please advise and I will delete this post if covered elsewhere on forum.

Using build 1253 in a new Anim8or project, creating a closed spline shape, which does not cross itself, and using the BUILD/FILL command: it seems I do not have a fill result but a white square with no spine and no filled object to be seen in any viewport.

Likewise, creating a word using the text tool, the option to CONVERT TO SPLINE is grayed out and not selectable. I tried several other fonts to be certain and downloaded a specific TTF font to no avail.

I am curious if the two issues are related? Thanks for any insight into this.

Thank you Steve, I've been following the history of Anim8tor for several years now and thought that might be the situation, having read your forum posts from time to time over the years. I wanted to throw it out there, just in case this needed to be brought up by dedicated users.

I'm very, very excited to hear you are going to continue work on Anim8or, this is music to my ears and I'm so energized by the prospect, I'm having trouble typing! I would like to participate with bug reports, suggestions, and whatever else is possible. I'm in and out of the forum here, but now that we have this fantastic new build and the unbelievably good news that you are going to continue, I will dig around in the forum to see how I can participate in debugging and suggestions. Amazing news, it truly is...

Steve, I can't believe we have another build and the interface is amazing. I'm so excited it almost doesn't seem real... the rest of my evening has just been put to the side to play with this new Anim8tor build and appreciate how lucky we are that you are back in the lab!

General Anim8or Forum / Kickstarter for Steve and Anim8or

I am interested in the idea of a Kickstarter campaign for Anim8or. I did a search and noted this has been mentioned before on the forum but not in depth and not recently.

I would imagine there are quite a few Anim8or hard core users like myself who would love to see a substantial upgrade and would be willing to put in a little money to a Kickstarter campaign. I started learning 3D via Anim8tor many years ago and have grown to appreciate how utterly simple yet powerful it is, and of course, unsurpassed when it comes to ease of use and the low learning curve involved. I envision a 1.0 version of Anim8tor that has a few more precious, key features that could exponentially improve its abilities.

I'm certain Steve G. has his own style and way of development and this is humble thinking out loud, however I would imagine it could not be a bad thing if a campaign did result in a moderate raising of funds. Perhaps funds could be used to hire coders to work on critical areas and other tasks that require outside assistance.

Thoughts... suggestions from the forum?

This is very exciting! Incredible in Fact!

I am a die hard Anim8tor user as I find it does everything I need for Adobe Photoshop and AfterEffects work. I'm extremely happy to see Steve updating this program as I know it means quite a bit to many users. This made my week.
