nalds : also make sure all your textures are in the same directory as the mesh model, causes problems if they are not in the same place as the mesh.

Is it me or has anybody used the knife tool in 0.96 Beta.....it won`t work!  it works ok in 0.95 or has this already been reported as bug as its not in bug list.

Steve: are there any more betas to be released yet?

You should have headed that way some time ago sorry.. entries for Participating expired 22nd February, Last Submission date 29th February. 

You can try the new comp at animanon ...Inventions starts 01 March finishes 15 March no exceptions!

load in the obj ....go edit ...select all press / three times to reduce size.
now go edit...colour...colour by gruop
then again edit....select....select by group
u should now have selection for the meshes
select your first mesh ...  then drag from selection box up to middle of screen, u can press * on keypad to make bigger / smaller
once it looks good  go select...New Umap ....planar( or whatever) u might have to play with all the settings to get each mesh right...

repeat for all other meshes once you have done all the meshes go File...save model... ok the box then save the model like modelmapped.obj  so you know its a mapped model,
 then file...save texture map
save the map as something that relates to the model


now use the texture mapped file in gimp, photoshop etc ...
overlap each mesh by a couple of pixels otherwise u get white area on outline

reload into anim8or as obj model  then usr your texture as material

Hope this helps.

You will need to separate all the meshes in UVmapper then apply a new map to each one ... There used to be a tutorial on the old anim8or.org site done by Bravo One but it is not available any longer ( unless it was uploaded here way back) I do have a copy of that on paper,and I will see what I can do to help you out.

try going into face mode select the faces of the part you are trying to disconnect, then  edit/Detach faces or keystroke Shift D

then move them out

convert thenm to 3ds or obj format with anim8or ... I think UV classic is Obj format offhand

just save as Obj format instead of An8


you won`t be able to import straight anim8or objects they must be converted to Obj format
