General Anim8or Forum / Re: Where is Anim8or v0.96?
« on: April 01, 2008, 10:46:01 am »
all these versions are in fact betas! (0.96 & 0.97) it even says in the splash screen that they are previews.

the only stable version is in fact, as far as I am aware V0.95  perhaps steve will confirm that?

here we go, here we go, here we go!!!

1: create a model in Object Mode.
2: switch to Scene Mode by  Menu/Mode/Scene
3: Import any of your models in Menu/Build/Add Object
3a : make sure all your models are imported in object Mode before you begin
4: To add background Menu/Settings/Enviroment
4a: From this bit you can add a picture, Click off the checkerboard or leave it on if you so desire

From then on,  you might ask how do I add a ground floor etc ... but that will be answered in another post i expect ......why not visit http://animanon.xtreemhost.com where some of your questions may be answered.

Cheers

If you are using a reference image then I suggest you Highlight the image, then go to top view move the ref image back, then go back to front view, and you will be able to see your points as you draw..... you need to do this for side views as well.

If you just leave the image in its initial position then you will not be able to see any points being drawn

Hope this helps

In response to RnDr_FOX`s  request

Kreator, in the anim8or.com forum there is a topic called newbs come and in that topic me and a few other newbs got together and are going to launch The Anim8or Newb Project 2008. This project is for all of the newbs to get together and make a short film. You can find more info on this on the forum under the topic.
We want as many newbs to contribute to this project because it would be a great way for them to learn the ropes to anim8or and if we do not get enough help the project could be droped
But on to my question. Can the project have a space under the projects part of this forum so others can find out about the project that is set to launch on the first of April (not a April fools joke)
Thanks for your help.
For more info please post back or refer to the newbs come post.
Also lets discuss this

I am setting up your project Board at AnimAnon,  feel free to post to that board, Our uptime is now 99% with all host maintenance complete .

Link here NEWBS COME

Some of our more experienced members will of course be on hand to help you out should you need it.

I don`t think you will get any of this unless steve decides to do something about it!

There is a thing called "Karma that can be used with SMF forums it is inbuilt but on this site it has not been implemented basically because it would be open to abuse!

There are also mods that can be used on an SMF forum (like this one and also ours at Animanon and Anim8or.org ) that can give a vote to topics but that is not on here either.

I would think that embedding videos (youtube) would be better!

Still all these thoughts are entirely up to the administrator of the forum as to whether he implements them or pooh- poohs them!

Light Attributes
You can modify the look of area lights by changing the way that they are sampled with the
following attribute on the light in a scene:
sampler - is a string attribute with three recognized values: multijittered (the
default), jittered, and regular. The jittered modes produce a more random or
grainy effect when undersampled while the regular sampler looks more like multiple
shadows.

I don`t seem to see how I can put these attributes into the light the example on the preview only shows a blue and yellow light where is the Multijittered attribute?

Haha! I have been watching this thread with great interest as usually requests for items like this have usually been answered with the stock reply "Read the Manual" so it seems hopefully, times they are a changing.

I tried andrews method and found that one to be pretty quick!

so this might be another bit to go in Dotan8 !!

My thoughts on your dilemma ,
1: pull ou a cylinder make it 18 longitude, untick cap start and end then convert to mesh,
2: go point mode, delete all the points except last segment. now you should have a ring
3: select face mode....multiselect all faces, click shell tool and drag out to make some thickness
4: select edge mode ....multiselect top and bottom edges of cylinder seg....click bevel tool and drag  to bevel edges of ring
5: subdivide ... presto a ring... apply gold texture ......somebody`s wedding?
took a couple minutes ... this took longer to write and post
