hey, pretty sweet!  you've done a great job on the dark-and-dingy thing, i know i wouldn't wanna go down there!  glad to see you took my suggestion about the light fitting by the door :)  the greek text is an interesting touch, too.

just a couple of questions - did you make the moon/stars texture(s) yourself?  and how come your post has a 'thumbs down' icon - a bit inappropriate for such a good render, isn't it?

i should hire you as a set builder for my next cgi movie...

that's better, i can see now!  looks pretty cool, but would it be possible to have a slowed-down version so we can see a bit more clearly?  just wondering.

:)

<annoying>erm, just to be pedantic... The Incredibles was made by pixar, who are Dreamworks Animation's arch-rivals.</annoying>  i like sharing the interesting-but-useless info that i've accumulated over the years  ;)

now, back on topic... excellent rig, SirBonovox!  now he just needs some textures and clothes, although i'm certainly not volunteering to do the cloth sim  :P

nice mouth there, although i can't help thinking it would work just as well for a fish as for a human... :P  never mind, i obviously just have a really weird brain.

it looks quite high-poly though, surely if you model the whole person to that degree of detail, you'll get a suicidally massive poly count and crash your computer?

one last thought: it could use some teeth  ;D

good point, xalener.  i guess the answers to your questions are "no, not really" and "well i was, but i'm not any more", respectively.

looks pretty cool so far.  maybe could do with turning up the specular a bit more, for the metallic effect, and you might want to turn on antialiasing in the render options box, as antialiased renders always look loads better (they take a bit longer, but hey, "you can't rush art"!).  good thinking about saving the backup of the mushroom.  that sort of lateral thinking is always helpful, but especially so in animation.

keep up the good work!  8)

hey, i just discovered that as topic starter, i have the ability to lock the topic - woohoo!  I GOT THE POWER!!!  8)  but, please don't make me weild my power.  i don't want to lock off the directory, of course, but i might have to if too many people keep posting irrelevant stuff.   :(

on the bright side ;D : thank you to everybody who has posted their channels here so far, it's been a lot of fun looking through them all.  if you've got a channel, but haven't signed the directory yet, please do; we'd all love to see your vids!

thanks  :)

awesome; the texturing is especially impressive.  i'd agree that the ground needs messing up, and it could use some work on the lighting, but the buildings are amazing.  maybe add a light fitting next to the doors on the left?  if you did that, and put in a corresponding local light in scene mode to make a sort of light puddle around the doors, and leave the rest of the scene a bit darker, i think that'd help make it look dirty and seedy, if that's what you're aiming for.  the icing on the cake would be to have some more models off in the distance, with a tiny local light on them, to create the impression that the alley goes on for longer, and mostly in the dark, but i guess that could end up being a lot of work...  :P

all it needs now is some witches' brew in it - bubble, bubble, toil and trouble, etc... - and maybe a handle?  8)

yep, spicy, John Williams is a film composer - imo, he's one of the greatest film composers of all time.  his work includes not only the Star Wars main theme (and pretty much all the other music for the saga too), but also nearly every film Spielberg has directed (including Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, etc), the first 3 Harry Potter films, and several other things as well.  here's a list of his composing credits - there's well over 100 of them!

i'd go with tanzim's Option #2 for making the windows look better.  whichever option you take, one of your first priorities should be to make the windows less bright, as they currently really do look too much like floodlights 8)

and i'd like to hazard a guess as to which end is the front - i think it's the one at the right-hand side of the piccy.  right or wrong?
