just bought my Quadcore with vista. Runs Anim8or perfectly xD and the art tracer finally works well:P ... one problem ...... i enable fog but when i render the image, there isnt no fog :S im not sure why this might be. Can anyone help me out?>

Hey peeps

im not too sure if theres already a topic referring to whether or not Anim8or can work on the Windows Vista platform, but oh well :P lol ....

Im getting myself a Quadcore pretty sooon i hope, which runs on Vista. I need to know if ill be able to continue using anim8or or not :S

i hope  i can ... ive been using it for several years now lol but a new pc will produce much better renders etc

Does anyone know where i can find some huge really detailed sea textures??

atm, im using a 1944x2592 lol and evem this is too small ...

ive attached a rendering that shows the sea being too stretched, not realistic enough.

The sea model is absolutely massive, so i will either have to get a much bigger sea texture (or the same size texture with more wave detail) or somehow mirror and paste a load of sea images of the same texture to create one big one (though this would look rather weird)

any suggestions??

I think that volume shadows should be made workable and reliable ... At the moment, volume shadows mess up ... The textures go all destorted. I believe this error should have been sorted out ages ago ... Its been going on since Version 6 :S

my model set is huge. Ray traced shadows take ages. Volume shadows would decrease time ... But they dont work! Image quality can sometimes be terrible.

In fact, i think Volume Shadows should be a main priority ...

for quick renders etc

I need a good video compressor that will keep quality but reduce size considerably. Ive already mentioned this ...

Does anyone know of how to use Bink? Its good stuff, but i have never been able to use it :(

Anim8or version97 needs a much faster rendering engine i believe ...
also there are currently errors with the Art Tracer which is annoying ...

I have modelled the plug tower hut ( in my game) but im unsure what texture to use ...

Ive attched three images that show a clay hut, a metal hut and a stone/wooden plank hut

My original idea was to have a clay hut, as this looked more primative, though seemed to be too much like the huts from Riven ... :(

Not too sure really
What are your thoughts??

I experimented with version97 today with the set im designing ... I used ART Ray Tracer to render the image, however it turned out to be quite a mess :S it reminds me alot of the problem i have with volume shadows ...

anyone know why the image is turning out like this ??
ill try and get a picture of what i mean soon, but basically the textures go all strange and distorted :S i thort ART Ray TRracer was supposed to be better than scaline ...

is it possible to make the background uneffected by mist ...

i want the background image to show more though if i strengthen the mist, it dissapears TOO much

in my game, theres a chair that can rorate when the player clicks on it. it swivels around a full 360 degrees. i was wondering how i can create this animation in anim8or WITHOUT the chair moving at all - staying in the same place, by spinning around ...

any help?

im not too used to using the animation side of things just yet:P as ive never had to ...

To get the most out of my models, I would like to use ray traced soft shadows ... but im using a lot of models. Ive kept the polygons down to a mimium to speed up rendering, hjowever, i still think its going to take ages ... There was even one point where i took a rendering of the entire set without shadows and Animn8or came up with an error message and shut down!!! :O

Is there a good fast rendering software that supportas Anim8or files???

also, can anim8or 360 panoramic views?

any tips on how to render soft shadows faster?? Does a fast computer render iamges faster or is it just anim8or ... Wish the renderer was faster!!! lol

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good video/animation cropping freeware/software i can get hold of ...

I have a problem.

My set is huge ... too big perhaps :P

the further i go with the camera, models start to disappear from view although they're still there ...


I was wondering if therre was a way of making the working environment much bigger ... so more models can be viewed etc

My name's Aaron

I have been using Anim8or for a quite some time, since i was 13. Im now 16, yet i have had a period of about a year where i havent used it at all. I recently downloaded v.95 and for some strange reason the smooth round effect that can be applied to the model just for viewing purposes still has a load of lines going around it :S also, the textures dont appear once ive applied to the model and only appear in the rendered image, animation.
