Hi Arik!

Yes..the first one was my first flying saucer  the second was my entry in the contest and there is a third in the works.  the 3rd one was going to be for the 2012 David M.E. award but it does not look like thats going to happen.

As for ART, all lights cast shadows 100%. So your best bet would be to add multiple lights so that it'll reduce the darkness of the shadows. The additional lights don't have to cast shadows, and can be placed in the exact same orientation as the shadow casting lights. Then adjust the intensities of all the lights to get the results you want. I don't play with ART much (read:never), so it's possible there are better solutions.

Hiya Raxx

I am playing with extra lights and I am seeing some results I like.  Thanks for the tip!   :D  8)

Raxx, it dawned on me:  You may have been right in the 1st place.  I was so caught up in the light properties I did not consider the MATERIAL it was hitting!!!!  I will report my findings but I feel it is the MATERIAL it is hitting!!!    Thanks for chiming in!  :-)

Hi Raxx

When I use Scanline I get no shadows and the colors of one of my objects gets....."rainbowy"

When I use ART Ray Tracer I get heavy dark shadows; even if I try Ray Trace Percent 2

Hi All

I've searched the forum and tried different things and came up empty handed.  How can I make my shadows lighter?  I have tried the Advanced properties and change the percentage.  I have even changed the color of the light and the shadows won't tone down.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Just a shout out to any new folks who might have found this site and amazing program!  You've come to the right place if you are new to computer 3D modelling and/or animating and looking for a program to get you started.  First, let me say that this wonder program is free!  No money!  Its yours to make stuff!  Tap into that inner artist that screams to be released!   :D

What Anim8or will do for you:

* Give you a taste of the 3D modelling and anim8ing

* Give you an appreciation of what is involved in 3D modelling and anim8ing

* Give you a complete healthy rush when you render your first model and/or anim8ion

* Will help you determine in a relatively short time if 3D modelling and anim8ing is for you

* Make you $  (I took first place in a contest and won cash shortly after grasping key Anim8or concepts; not kidding!)

What Anim8or won't do for you:

*  Make a Pixar type movie.  Even if you had Maya or 3ds, you could not do that alone, so please keep that in mind!  :)

*  Your chores

I have it running on Win XP SP 3, Vista and Win 7 and its fun!

If you have any questions ask!  Despite what anyone says, there is a new breed of Anim8ors here that are willing to help!

Let it be known that I personally brought down Lynn's site by not contributing enough.   ;) ::)

I'm just getting started.  I have logged 10 hours with Anim8or today and I am not done yet.  I was working on an entry to Lynn's contest.  I assume with all this happening the contest is no more?    :-[
