Hey everybody. For the last five month I and three classmates of mine have been busy creating a short film.
It's about two trees that fall in love with each other. But because their rooted to the ground they can't touch each other.

It's made with Maya and compositing is done with Nuke.

Absolutely delightful work Floyd, you and the team should be very, very proud of this.  It is clearly a technical masterpiece, the modelling, lighting & rigging is first rate, but more importantly (and perhaps more easily overlooked in animation forae) the storytelling, music and 'directorship' is absolutely fantastic.  Truly inspirational!

Thanks for the comments! We are really proud of the final result.
Edwin schaap came up with the story and was director in all of it. I have done alot of modeling, compositing and layout work, like cameras, lights, fog... etc

That was amazing Floyd. Very nice and touching short. I'd say more but I'd be parroting what the others have said already. Keep it up Floyd! Looking forward to more of your projects.

Man... I'm kinda of intimidated by my thesis that'll come up soon. We have to make a short too.

Semi-raondom question: How long did the rendering take and how much allotted time did you have to produce the entire thing?

Thanks all!
@simon: Yes I'm really glad everything is working out, soon I release another short and start my internship.
@Janro: Rendering was a bitch. It was all rendered in mental ray for maya. We had multiple passes and rendering toke about 10 minutes a frame. We rendered non-stop for three weeks Tongue. Overall production toke about 4 months to complete.

Wow, Great work, I feel like I should be seeing this as the short before a Pixar movie! Very professional!

Superb, professional work!!!  This is the first time on this forum that I was in tears watching something created by a member here.

Keep it up buddy.  All the best for all your future endeavours.
