Haha yes, that's probably one reason why he has the CHECKS texture.  I figure it's also colored so that you can view colors as well.  The CHECKS texture is an all-around very generic texture that can be used for many things.

Now, you can see my texturing!  Here's two different textures.  Both very similar, mainly just different color schemes.
Crit away!

I personally don't have any crits, it's a great model and I love the teeth!

Wow that is a great model. I dont have much to say but how did you model that, how did you make your textures and does your creation have a name ;)

Finished.
Thanks for your support.
Spicy:  Thanks, that's just the UV map  ;) not going to keep that for the teeth.
RnDr FOX:  Thanks.  I modeled that with a combination of boxmodeling and edge looping techniques and a nice reference image.  Oh, and edge looping!  Always important.  As for texturing, it was actually quite simple.  First I unwrapped the UV's on him, then using photoshop I rendered some clouds then used an overlay layer and found an image of some skin, then overlayed that, added some spots and some texture to them, etc.  I tend to use images to help me with my texturing.  It's very helpful.  Oh, and I have a bumpmap and specular map which can be very helpful.  Lastly, no name for this guy, maybe you could think of something  ;)
thecolclough:  haha, thanks.  Well, this model and its textures are very easily changeable.  I made the textures with extremely easily editable photoshop files where you can dump a color in a layer and it will change the skin color, or the spots color, or the teeth color or the gums color.  So any color scheme is really possible.

You can view my final post with all the information and downloads in this thread

And here's my final render for you all:

now which photoshop are you using Photoshop Elements or Photoshop CS3. Also I am wondering if Gimp can do exactly what you just said you did for your texture.

I used Photoshop Elements, it came with my tablet.  I believe it should be pretty easily possible with Gimp to do that with the textures.  You just need to be able to use blending groups (and grouping would be useful, but that's only if you wanted to have easily editable color schemes.)

Well, digging this up, but I realized I never actually posted this render.
I created this for the new and improved:
CG-Nation!
Earlier it was on the front page and made nice and pretty by TheProducer, but here's what I can show you now.  I'm working on some other renders for other pages on CG-nation.

Thanks Almost Cool.
Yes, he's the mascot of the CG-nation forum now.  He's called "Grunk" for now.

i think it suits him.  i'm wondering, is that red box significant, or is it just something for him to stand on?

Obviously, it's "the perfect" cube primitive!

...Kind of reminds me of those creatures from the Stephen King story "The Langoliers" or the movie "Critters". ...only friendlier!
