I'd like to start helping, but I'm not sure what you need at the moment. I am much better at creating inanimate objects than live or moving ones. I'm very good at making cups, goblets, pots and things of that sort. Once I get aproved for the yahoo group, I can see what you have already, and start from there.

I'm also capable of composing music, but I'm not sure if it would fit in style wise. I'll start making some and see if you like it.

ALL RIIGHT! Action! New members! Glad to see you, folks!

Dark Saruman, do you have a link to the picture?

XXXBehold: Vegetation! For give me if the links are "fluffy", this is my first time using Image Shack.XXX
Oops, something going on with my server or with image shack....

And a sword effect for the molten swords, prety much The Lightsaber Technique, but with some molten metal thrown in!

I'll be uploading the source file soon, but I want to model some real, polygon plants to be brushed aside or interacted with by Wolf. And also some leaves- and a path and stuff.

How many people here know how to do an edgelooped character? Can anyone give me any links to an online, not video, tut? All my characters deform oddly.

You can download a figure with edgelooped face at;

Be forewarned; there is generic nudity in this thread.

Cool pic. Where did you get it? Copyrighted or not, we should contact the author to get permission to use it and permission to tweak it a little.

Thx Bobg.

Imageshack is going very slow on a 28.6 kbps connection...

Ok. I took so long making this because I was putting in fog effects. Here's the stumps, undergrowth, and ground fog:

And here's some floating fog:

It should probably be anim8ed in the movie. Instead of doing animated textures I think I'll try gently drifting and rotating the patches of fog and see if that looks all right.

Hi everyone.

Just thought I'd keep you all updated with the latest in the music scene.
I have updated the "A dark tower some where" to include the exit section aswell. The silent gap in the middle is where the conversation will be (it can be extended depending on the finished length of the conversation. Here a download link so you can have a listen and make your comments:-
http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=03QJBXIDU5SK91RWBMAWDC4BCI
Hope you like it so far.

I am still working on a few more ideas for the film of which I will let you know once they are finished.

ok thanx but i still con't do fur. i would like not to have to do every single strand. i wish there was some way we could get what pixar used for Monsters Inc. that is like easy fur eight there. k does any one have a reference image for me on our "wolf"? or can i just make my own? let's make "wolf" like puss in boots. that would be funny. not a look alike but the cuteness and have a scene when our heos first meet wolf and he gives them the eyes.

Nice to see you all active - cool

That molten sword is awesome ! Why don't you upload it to yahoo so we can take a look at it?
Or can you post pic in higher resolution?
And fog effects are great ! I love them, but that ""Here's the stumps, undergrowth, and ground fog"" ... this is intended for dark forest right? , aren't there gonna be no trees and higher plants or that is just WIP, and trees and higher plants are yet to be added.
I guess my tree would fit better in normal forest, but I can also tweak the leaf & bark texture to look dark and dead.
Is fog transmapped? , along with "grass" I guess?

Juanito, -sry, but: woof will be done by MP3D, and I'm in charge of the dark tower, you can download the tower wip from yahoo.

Nice fur bobg, but i think it can also be done better, to have the edges more smooth and thin.

Benney... I'm spechless... It's unbelivable what you can do with music... !!!

Juanito - "new at this" is making a character, It's still wip offcourse. you can see it on page 10.
-keep seeking things to model

MP3D. I was actually thinking of asking Theater375 if she fancied trying her hand at a touch of rap/house for the "UglyMaiden" ad. (please don't take that personaly Theatre375 also could you send me a copy of your singing demo so I can have a listen).

BTW - when uploading audio samples to the group site can you please upload them as .MP3 not .wav this way it saves room.

I hope you don't mind but I have deleted the original wav file and replaced it with an mp3 version which is coded for your self regarding copyright.
You're a classical lady are you, Well i'm a classical man (no pun intended) as you might be able to tell from the pieces that I have constructed so far for the film but I thought it might add an additional flavour to the film by creating a classical interpretation of house/rap (a bit of fun comedy considering the name of the product)

Thanks for the compliments! Benney, I don't have time to d/l the new song now, but I'm sure it's cool!

I'll have to re-render the sword pic, but I think I'll probably just post the an8 file so you guys can look at it. The sword is just an example, it's nowhere close to lookng real. I volunteer to do the swords, I saw a good reference pic on the Wikipedia.

Mr. Smeagol, I thought we agreed that certain people would do certain layers of the forest because certain people's trees are infinitely better than other certain people's. Yes, that's the dark forest in trans. maps.

That fur looks too jagged. It isn't strands though, just trans. maps?

Finally got around to downloading everyone's samples. Theater375, I think you probably have the part, since you seem to be the only female girl around here. Mr. Smeagol, is that your real accent? Codfish, the compression made it difficult to hear yours well. I guess I should put a sample of mine up too. Whe I get around to uploading all the sword and stuff.

Yes, Mp3d, it's coming together, but we have to stay focused! So far we have a lot of people willing to help and a few miscellaneous models... still, it's better than nothing and we're makng progress! Keep up the good work!

Hi Willium_Bob_Cole, and welcome
Guides for newbies:
-Join Yahoo group so you can dl the script
-read the script (I's lololol funny script)
-find something in it that you'r good in at moddeling - or maybe you have some other talents?
-Check with us is the model you chose maybe already taken on by somebody else...
-Start doing what you chose and post your wip-s here so we can direct you if necesary

theater375... you have very nice & soft voice too cool !
PR_7, yes that's my real accent... lol, if I do have any accent because my native language is not english, but I'm very good at english... I guess i picked up my accent from tv...lol, so really - Is my accent strange of funny or wierd? lol, ...only you guys can tell...
Layers of forest - yea, that's right, aldo I ment to help in all layers i manage offcourse, what you did looks cool ...very cool, but i guess the stumps will be replaced by trees ...or not? so we have 50% stumps 50% trees ? -that's actually what I was wondering

lol, another thing I noticed - theater375 & MP3D have very very simmilar accent!

... enough of writing this post... I's too long as it is, lol- I'm gonna go work on the dark tower now

C&C extremly velcome offcourse -PR_7 - is lighting setup what you had in mind? Or is it wrong... ?

Welcome, Willium Bob Cole! Do you like making organic models, inorganic models, or characters? There's plenty of stuff in any of those categories, just check to make sure it's not already taken. Right now we're working on the Dark Tower scene and the forest scene.

Mr. Smeagol, I like the accent! I've just never heard one like that before. It's a litle different than I'm used to, but your English does sound pretty good. Ya, since it's a dead forest I decided a few stumps would look good. I think the ratio should be 5% stumps; 45% trees; 25% fallen trees, dead logs, half-fallen trees; and the rest empty space and miscellaneous bushes, boulders, and stuff.

Wolf should look like a small puppy of generic breed, reminiscent of a wolf but with bigger eyes, skull, paws and perhaps the ears and nose as well. he should be small enough to ride behind someone on horseback or perhaps in a large knapsack. He should walk on all fours. The face should be funny andcute, not regal or wise like all those wolf pictures. I don't think he should be a Siberian or Husky, just look a little like one. I'll stop with the description there because I'm more familiar with cats than dogs.

Files coming soon, I promise!

Looks good, Mr. Smeagol! Here are my crits:
-the door is too wide
-the sign on it looks odd, I think it's the texture.
-that light in the ceiling should probably be unlit or dim. It maybe should be lower, the smake from it would make a stain on the ceiling since there isn't a hole. And the consultant character is evil, so it follows that he doesn't like lights.

I like the light setup otherwise. If I were you, i would alter the color to a little more red to make it look like the lights are burning badly and smoking and also add to the evil feel of the scene. Some of them should be a little more dim. I would also add a some moonlight (pale blue) coming in through the windows, if you haven't already. If you have, it's nice and subtle, which is excellent. Keeping in mind that we want to have the characters in silhouette or at least darkness.

I know i sound critical, so here's the stuff I liked:
-excellent job on the pillars and supports. You seem to have an instinct for architectural detail.
-Very good texturing, it looks like a lot of hard work!
-Those little halos around the lights.

Just a little side comment: if you keep the light in the ceiling, you can add like a lighter/snuffer-outer thing on a pole and hide it in a corner. Just the kind of detail everyone takes for granted but that requires thinking.

About the architecture thing, would you like to design the two throne rooms? It seems like the kind of thing you would do well with.

Well, I'm trying to d/l the model to get a closer look at it, but my ISP has apparently kicked out on me again, so I hope this post will post...

Nice candles, though the candle sticks are a little thick for my taste. The table edge seems too sharp. I would guess that the candles are for various throne rooms?

Juanito, how about modeling the raft in the river scene? Simple affair, just some logs roughly lashed together.. for now. Later we can add the seats and engine. The logs in the center should be longer, giving it a poiinted front [bow]. The raft should be big enough for three bucket seats, a pile of supplies, then behind this two horses with the engine between them.

I've been wondering: what are we going to do about accents? The settin is vaguely reminiscent of England or Europe in the middle ages, yet we have people from all different countries willing to do voices. So do we Americans and non-British-type-people fake a British accent, let the people from Europe keep theirs, and hope for the best? A few European accents in England won't be too out of place, probably. Or since this is a comedy anyway, we could just leave everything as it is.
Suspension of disbelief is a willingness of a reader or viewer to suspend his or her critical faculties to the extent of ignoring minor inconsistencies so as to enjoy a work of fiction.
I'm going to draw up a real list of the cast of characters.

That post is long enough! Bye!
