That table's dead now anyways, the computer froze before I had saved... I can make the candle sticks a bit thinner.
As for voices, I can adopt a british accent, though I'm not sure how authentic it is.

Here, I made the candle stick thinner, and this is the new table. I'm not sure about the edges though, its sort of meant to be octigonal.

I indeed forgot about wolfs looking. what about scrappy doo? He played in that scooby-doo movie where he sucked up everyones souls or something. Then he became very silly at last.

Hey PR_7 - I uploaded tower to my webspace so you can dl it, Tower.zip
Couse I notice Yahoo is lagging often... I can imagine how it lags 4 U then with 56Kbps modem.
Nice crits from you... thx for compliments, but I didn't quite got everything you said 4 lights... so, feel free to dl the tower and change what you want and link it back to me... ok?

And councelar sign is not just part of the texture of doors, it's separate object...

I'd like to design the two throne rooms ,after I finish the tower offcourse. You can give me some description or concept art maybe, of how you imagine it?

richardteam... eee... about... 1 month for now? , and it's still wip

Candle is cool, yet, maybe if you make the holder of metal...

StFan -scrappy doo.... kind of completly not what I think woof should look like... lol

But anways... who is making woof? I thought it was MP3D... is he still gonna do woof?

Juanito: suggestion 4 raft - don't make all logs just simple cones... deform them to make them look real and look like it's made very very quicky in a rush... if you get what I mean... oh, and uv-map each log separatly b4 fitting them together b/c if you don't it would be impossible to Uv-map it correctly afterwards.

Quote: " i would alter the color to a little more red to make it look like the lights are burning badly and smoking and also add to the evil feel of the scene." Fell free to try

Quote: "also add a some moonlight (pale blue) coming in through the windows, if you haven't already. If you have, it's nice and subtle, which is excellent. " I already did, and it's nice and suptile also you can temper with "moonligt" light and see what comes out...

sure i can do logs i am working on a little bird statue that could go on the dark tower or somewhere. u know just one of those things you would see on a wall outside. i am not finished yet. i can't make a good rock look to it, chunks in it are good though. u know vines groweing up the tower would be sweet. maybe bats flying outside, rain w/ terainam8or. i was thinking on the scene where ka gets up to leave out of the tower make it so we look at his body missing only his head.. that would be a nice camera angle. long enough post i think... b/b/s

Good job on the candlesticks. The table needs a higher smooth angle though.

Well, that dog picture is closer, but I don't quite like it either. His face is too round and babyish.

His name is spelled Woof, as in the sound a dog makes. He just thinks he's a wolf. Though I don't remember if anyone actually calls him by name anyway.

Mr. Smeagol, you can forget most of what I said about the lights, now that I've looked at the scene and saw how everything is set up I changed my mind. Although I do think that the overhead light should be turned off and the other lights a little more red. I could make a texture for the Consultant nameplate in bronze if you want.

We should probably experiment with lighting later after we have animation and lightning strikes and everything. Anyway, i was pretty much forgetting that it would be in a storm.

I need to look at pictures of throne rooms and get ideas.
EDIT: Perhaps like this, except less grand, for the one in the beginning: http://stacy.theatre-musical.com/russia/pics/13.jpg

Codfish, I'm working on it presently. If you would like to do leaves on the ground(lowpoly for close shot, textures for others,) and fallen logs next to stumps and rocks and things, i wouldn't mind (but don't make the log a cylinder like i just did- it looks cheap) I'm going to be adding some other, taller plants, and also a bush. I could send you the source file, but I think we can just put everything together later.

Any more opinions on accents?

Wow! I leave for a week on a vacation to the US of A and I get all of this to read!

Phew, that was a good at least 20min reading session and it's good to see a few new people here. The only problem with that is now it's going to be even harder to keep track. But I'll try:

theater375 - Great voice, I really think you should have a part in the voice-acting and nice table & candle although I too think the table is a bit... rough. Good work though!

Juanito - Can't say much yet seeing as how I haven't seen your work but welcome!

Willum_Bob_Cole - I'll say the same to you as I said to Juanito.

Mr. Smeagol - I'm speechless... the tower is looking great! I especially love the texturing. But I do think the door is a bit wide too.

Benney - The clip for the Dark Tower is wonderfull! I really like it.

But right now I'm going to add theater375, Juanito, and Willum_Bob_Cole to the member's table.

I made a bench today, just more random furniture for whatever scenes. The edges might be a little "rough". I'm not sure what to do to fix the table and the bench because I'm kind of new to this, so if anyone has any tips they could give me about how to fix them, please tell me.

http://img158.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bench1ly.png

Also, I'm trying to work on my skills for making people, but I can never get the faces right, so if anyone knows of any good head modding tutorials please post them.

Mr.Smeagol-The tower looks amazing!

I fixed your table it was easy.
here is quitk tutorial/explanation:
you made the upper half as two separate objects in one mesh, like they'r mirrored on y axis. But you did not merge the points:

I hidden the texture to make it easyer to see. You can see the two halfs overlapping. making it imposible 4 anim8or to smooth it correct, so you just select each of points selected and merge them with value of 1 (edit - merge points)
After that i noticed it's still a bit rough, so i aded extra points to make it smoother:
anim8ted gif- top view:

First cut then non uniform scale.

And that's it!
Here is fixed table: Table-fixed
and here is the render preview: b4 / after

Don't give me any credits on the table, It's your's 100%. (the fixed version)

ok Juanito, I reciveed your raft... But I'm not going to post it yet on yahoo becouse it needs to be reworked....
__________
Here is the tutorial on how you shoud do it correctly...
*********
1.step - finding mistakes:
mistake no.1: Way toooooo many polies:

mistake no.2: not correct texturing (uv-mapping) on this parts:

2.step would be correcting... but... that's not so possible in this case... so you'll have to do it again the right way like this:

Start like this:

DO NOT GO EDIT-SUBDIVIDE TO GET FACES THAT YOU COUD EXTRUDE... never never.... and do not enter high number for cilinder lon. & lat. when you can use CUT TOOL to get exacly faces you want wherever you want... this is what cut tool can do for example...

Now let's fix the uv-mapping / wrong texturing of your logs:
Select these:

And then apply UV-tool from this possition with new material/texture I made especially for you:

then do it like this:

then this:

__________
since there is maximum of 8 pics allowed in one post I'll continue it in the next post...

continiued....

then do this:

and it should look like this after some materials tweeking ( eg: lowering the specular and icreasing the ambient & diffuse slightly)

And It would look even better if you make little branches like this... so log lookes like it has been knokcked down into raft just this moment lol:

And here is the .an8 of log example and texture I made for you: >>>Download it<<<

Good job with the log, Mr. Smeagol, Juanito! I like it!

I have just uploaded a file to the Anim8or Movie Zone with a list of all the speaking characters in the movie. There are about 20, but if people don't mind playing a small part as well as a big part, I estimate we'll only need 10-15 to play all the parts. However, most of the parts are for adults or near-adults, and I believe most of us are closer to 14? I have an idea that we could go find a forum for amateur actors and ask for help there if there isn't enough people willing to act here.

I volunteer to do the recap Bob_I_Ts wants, unless somebody else wants to.

Also, I believe I've mentioned this before, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a title for the script. "The anim8or Movie Project" is all very well and good for a working title, but I think we need another title as well. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I know its not that great looking at the moment, but it looks much better when I subdivide it. And I still have to work on the nose and the ears.

Is there not a way to import Bridge Commander MODS of officers, then convert to Max, from MAX i can make it .an8, and then subdivide? The uniform can be easily transformed into a harnas, and it saves quite some time.(note that with making it a subdivision the low-quality is undone, and it'll probably looks also better with other textures. Which i can get.)

for those who want to be voice actors keep in mind those of us who are going to be working on the soundtracks for the movie can change your voice to what ever we want...Man,Women,Child,Monster...etc...I know Benny and I have software that can do this...And I think Benny will back me up on this one.....Any who ......So if anyone wants go ahead and start recording the dialog for the movie..OR work out who wants to do what parts...And then start....we need the dialog so the Anim8ors can begin Anim8ing...And we can start working on the background/main theme for the music....

Also for those who DO begin working on this part of the movie...DONT HOLD BACK on emotion we want this to be like it were going on the big screen.......COOL....make sure you know the lines and dont just record your voice reading the script or it will sound like a robot reading it......If any one needs help on this e-mail me and I will be more then happy to help in your development.....

theater375,I am still working on the soundtrack for you to sing to...make sure you are building up your voice...
THIS IS AN EDIT............................

dont worry about your equipment you have do the best you can and we can clean it up.......

Folks me and Benny have the software to make this happen...if you dont believe me just look a few pages back and you will see me and my setup (home recording studio...)I have been working with music/sound for a long time..so Iam sure we can help any one with tips on how to improve there sound with whatthey have....JUST ASK...........

Only don't start recording yet, please! I want to go through the script and change some stuff, plus we should make sure we know what part everyone is doing! But feel free to practice with your equipment or practice with your voice.

Question for MP3D or Benney- Can I get better quality by running my mike through a mixer to the line-in port? Is the line-in port any better than the mic port?

Oh yeah, codfish- your tree looks like it's been chopped down instead of falling of it's own accord. A falling tree would snap anywhere from 2 - 10 feet high and leave all these shards of wood sticking up, try breaking a small twig and you'll see what i mean. Or it could be uprooted, which is cool:

P_R7,it depends on what functions your mixer board has...gain,bass,treble...if it has these settings then sure route your mic thru the mixer first...then to the mic input jack......if you dont know how to adjust your levels via your sound card let me know..it is important that these levels are set before you begin recording...

but going dirrectly to the mic input is fine too..for those who dont have recording software....one other thing to remember is keep your LIPS off the mic...the mic should stay at least 4 to 6 inches away from your mouth..when recording project your voice streight into the mic..not to the side of the mic...dont move around when you are recording..this causes the levels to change(volume)....make sure your setup is the same for each recording....meaning(everything you did on the first recording should be the same...where the mic was...how far you where from the mic....input settings ect.....this keeps editing down when the final production schem is set...you shouldnt record effects to the raw data(voice )when recording...this done after and when it it imported into the software...

you can use windows movie maker to record your voice.....as does a fine job ...

1 pen windows movie maker.
2:you should see a little microphone symbol click on that...
3:a window will pop up...you should see a little bar that goes from green to yellow to red...this is where you adjust the input level in windows movie maker...
4:you should beable to adjust the slider bar for the input level...with a normal voice talk into the mic and watch the indacator move in the bar...the indacator should stay at the very top of the green and only reaching yellow once in a while...it should never reach the red...this is called clipping when it goes in the red..

you should save as MP3 format...if you cant then we can convert it an MP3 this is a small file size with little loss in quality..

Hope this helps..

This sounds very interesting. I'll help with some modelling, as that seems to be the main task at hand. I was part of another anim8or movie once, but it fell apart within a few months... this project, however, appears to be very promising. If you need any examples of my work or anything, just ask. I actually have a model of a fire hydrant i'm working on right now that you might find useful.

P_R7, that is a good point that you made that I over looked...an amplified power source routed into the micphone in jake would not be a good idea to do....all tho my 2 channel mixing board is amplified I dont have a problem doing this because I dont have your everyday sound card...I have a professional sound card which can handle such a load....SO BE CARFULL NOT TO INPUT AN amplified SIGNAL INTO YOUR SOUND CARD...and for those who want a sound card for recording dont run out to your nearest retailor and buy a sound blaster anything card...those are for home home theater and have alot of noise that can ruin a recording...research sound cards there are some realy nice professional cards out there for all most the same price as a soundblaster card...I have had these cards and they dont even come close to the quality of sound of the card i have now....

any who this is way off topic....so thats it...
