Sorry I've been absent for a little while. Had some problems with the local net server and so now i'm in the process of sorting out over 300 emails from my website members. Anyhow Welcome to the team all you new members and yes I will back you up with what you say MP3D (us musicians have got to stick together ).
I'm glad you've all decided to get the tower scene sorted because I would love to get the music running in line with it.
Have fun everyone and I hope to have anouther piece of music ready for the film soon.

Pretty good! I think his neck is a little small though, the back of his head needs something, and he needs some ears eventually. I like it!

Welcome back benney,I cant wait to hear what you have been working on....

Thanks Mr.Smeagol for the kind words...And I would take C&Cs from you any time or day...so help me out if you see something thats not quit right cool....

P_R7,I have uploaded a new render of the dragon.(this ones about 3 hours of work on and off).
but the site resized it and it looks like poop! can anyone tell me how to delete a photo from the yahoo group site? so i can fix it.....I hope this is what you were thinging the dragon should look like..I am useing your concept art as a refrence..I started to make the nose long and skinny but it just didnt look right to me...so i went with a stuby one....

I think all that is left on the dragon is legs feet fangs and textures....do ya'll think i should make the teeth realy sharp or should I go for a set of human like with a few K9 teeth???and should I make him have a forked tongue or a big massive tongue???

later,

hey,
I like the dragon so far. I thing that a forked tounge like you said would be cool. Is it going to have horns also? Hey by the way I've been trying to work on the robot gaurd, in armour and I found that I do better on organic models. I am still trying to work on the robot, but after this I think I will try to work on somthing not man made. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks MP3D. At this moment i'm working on creating a fade over from the 'A dark tower somewhere' to the entrence image of the meadow for the kidnapping scene and then I'll be working on something for that scene in total.
I am also working on creating a backing track for the 'Ugly maidens Cosmetic' ad. It is essnetialy gonna be a house/rap piece with a difference, it is gonna use an orchestra instead of synths this way it keeps it in the same frame as the rest and gives the reason for the king not to like it .

I would go with the forked tongue and sharp teeth. Also, looking again at the picture, the eyes are slanting the wrong way, I think they should be set in a sort of flattened V shape for the evil look.
Those arms are good, but the claws are a little long, his hands should be more muscular. I think his chin needs a lift .(personal opinion) Don't forget he has small wings in the back as well. Keep up the good work, master edgelooper!

Can't wait for a sample, Benney!

Mp3D,
Here are some pics i think may help you with the wings anatomy: (and possibly horns or anything else?) http://www.whiskeysierragrafics.com/grafiken/fantasy/yurassic/dragon%20&%20pentagram -y.jpg
http://www.acraftaffair.com/images/red_dragon_1.jpg
some teeths and tounge: http://free-zg.htnet.hr/bitterness/Green%20Dragon.jpg
some "ears" stuff that i think would look nice http://elftown.lysator.liu.se/img/photo/8734_1122483035.jpg
offcourse our's dragon's wings would be much smaller (or not?)

I know our dragon is supposed to be different and original, but I'd just like it to be 10% more like other/ordinary dragons... Just enough so you can say from first look that that's a dragon
And I agree with all C&C from PR_7

MP3D - dont worry about yahoo resising your pic, we just click "large" button to make it original size

PR_7 - you said lights for tower still need some tweaking in collor and the strop light also something, so I leave that 4 you to do it... link it back to me once you'r done

Edit: Juanito - how's the raft going?

if this is going to be worked out i think it should provide some really good fur.

Ok, I finally got my laptop fixed.

But ya, feeg I don't mind having some more help with the website and I'm sure Benzjie wouldn't mind either but right now we need a good, free host to put the website on so if you or anyone here know of any good one please let me know. But feeg, it would be great if you had MSN messenger that way we can chat and won't have to use email or any other means of communication. Benzjie and I are currently working together through MSN.

MP3D - great dragon! I like it a lot but there is one thing that just doesn't-in my opinion-look right. The snout. I find it looks too short and stubby. And for the teeth and tongue I think you should go with the sharp teeth and split tongue.

I'll make the voice recording now once I figure out what to say lol just in case you guys still want it.

Ok I was trying to see if I could get a decent recording and I found out there's no where in my house that won't give background noise so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do voice acting and I was thinking about it and to be perfectly honest, I don't really feel like voice acting anymore.

If you really want to give it a try then do the following. Find the smallest room you can to record in. Close the curtains and door. Create some type of frame work around you and hang some long sheets or towels. The sheets or towels and closing the curtains and door etc will act as a dampner to reduce the room acoustics.

It's a shame really because I thought he was kinda cute. I mean, this is essentially a movie with some humor so I would have thought the characters would some humoristic features and to be honest what you created, I thought fitted the bill perfectly. But what do I know, I'm just a musician in the software world but a professional artist in the real world

regarding the dragon.....
I think there should be some changes, but not in the direction of realistic. Like a bigger head, very tiny wings (where he can actually fly with ). So indeed, a "cute" look, a little baby-like. I think that would be funniest.

well this is what I was thinking about the dragon...The script is realy good but on the lines of a comedy...so Haveing a full blown futureistic dragon wasnt in my mind when I started to work on him...I was following P_R7 drawings that was posted...the only thing I didnt follow was the snot(?)instead of being pointy i made it stuby...He will have tiny little wings...A forked tongue..I will slant the eyes a little but not to much...we can work with morph targets for facial expression..

Anywho...I will post an update soon...Once he is finished I will work on woof....

I do agree it is best to have a cute dragon. It makes the whole idea of it kidnapping the ugly maiden so much more rediculus. More of a publisity stunt.

Well, writing the script I had him in mind as the will-do-anything-for-money type, a little tired of the world, bored, sarcastic, laconic, etc. I don't think you want a dragon that accepts bribes and participates in fraud to look cute. Hm, actually I guess i din't actually state in the script that he took gold, but it fits. I mean, he's not doing it for free.
So, not realistic, but not cute. Just amoral in cartoonish sense.

I'll soon be posting a text file with pretty loose descriptions of characters, how they look, dress, and what their attitude is.

Stfan, could you explain your fur? I think I speak for all of us when I say that all I see is some transparent quads- though in the back of my mind I sense that this is good and is going to look cool... it's just not clicking in the front of my brain yet.

Steady on my good man. The reason you're not getting the posts is because we are all busy creating the parts. Which would you rather have:- A lot of mishmash chat and no results or good results and positve periodic chat. You have to remember that we are all volunteers so those kind of comments won't do the willpower much good if you know what I mean
I myself am running a large website, 3 groups and a full sized family yet I am still managing to find the time to try and create the music for this film and other projects outside this domain and all for free. This is one of the reasons why my feedback is period as apposed to daily. Afterall I recieve an average of 100 emails a day all asking me how to create music etc and I'm sure that the others are busy too.

Seeya soon, theater375!

Benney, I stand corrected! My apologies!

Mr. Smeagol, how would it be if we let benney use the thunder as punctuation for the music, then simply time our lightning to match it? In the meantime, I'll set up the position of the lights but not the animation. I will also set up the lightning position and the camera- should we use transparency mapped lightnig or modeled lightning? I just found a way to make some pretty cool lightning, but a transparency map would be more realistic. I think I can make the map with this program I have, it does some cool lightning.

According to the poll I put on the An8MovieZone Site, the majority of us want to have a production schedule. So, if we could all examine our schedules and whip up a plan off of this list of jobs:

concept art
storyboarding
Modeling
-scenery
-character
-props
-texturing
-rigging?
Anim8ing scenes
-Path/timing Setup
-Lighting
-Rendering
Anim8ing humans-lipsyncing?
Music
Video editing
Special Effects(an8 or post? wouldn't they come sooner up the line?)

I think I have a more recent task list somewhere, but I can't find it. Bob_I_Ts, if you're reading this, could you start a topic in this forum for us to discuss the schedule so we don't have to clutter up this topic? Thank you!

I've just posted THE CHARACTER DESCRIPTION LIST under text files>voiceacting.
Happy anim8ing!

P_R7,The dialog(voice acting must be done first) so the Anim8or's can lip sync to the voice track and also at the same time anim8 the movements of the models(fluid motion)within the scene...this allows the Anim8or's clarity on the emotion expressed by each model..and how they react to the enviroment/scene they are in..Which then brings us to haveing the enviroments complete. This must happen before the models are placed in there enviroment/scene..With out those two elements it will be hard to guess where to place the sound effects/lip syncing within the timeline..Basicly if there are no visual enviroments/scene's where the models interact with each other we will have to guess whats going on within the timeline...

So this is what needs to be complete first(imop):

1:voice acting recorded(all parts of the movie).
2:Enviroments/Scene's complete(along with any visual special effects like lighting tricks.Fire, dust storms, things like that.
3:models complete with rigs/morph targets ready for Anim8ing....
4:bring all elements into a scene,Enviroments and models and then begin to Anim8 the scene useing the voice acting recordings..
5:render all scenes that have been complete.
6 nce all the above is complete then we add the musical scores, vocal sound tracks and sound effects to the final movie useing a video/sound editing software...Me and benny have this and can compile our resources to bring it together...But if anyone else have this type of software they can also help in the final production phase..

these are just my thoughts..And things I have read and have been doing for my projects...We can use JLIPSYNC for the lipsyncing part it will provide us with a doop sheet so the Anim8or's know where to keyframe the lips....cool....

I agree 100% with you MP3D. This is like a piece of art in a frame. The animators create the art and then when it is finnished the musicians and FX personnel place it in the frame.
Please guys don't assume that the music I have created so far is the finnished result, because it's not. It is a demo of what I feel at the time is right and it is fully adjustable.
We have to develop around the film, not, the film develop around us.
So the basic order is:-
1, Voices
2, Animation
3, effects/Music

I agree with the order, + i think that we should have some more stability and make sure that everyone knows what they have to do, I think all the models for each scene should be put in a single folder named whatever the scene is. When they are made tho.!

I didn't mean in that order, I just coppied that list from page 2 of all the stuff to be done. Good idea feeg. About JLipsync, I read an article saying you should go for rough shape of the mouth by sylabbles, not letters. But I haven't done very much lipsyncing.

Are the LAME MP3 encoders legal? I have my voice sample all ready to put up, only it's a wav, 1.5 megs, and it goes so slow uploading that my server gives up or Yahoo stops generating the upload page or something. So I need an encoder for Audacity, but I'm not sure if LAME is legal.

Any comments, questions, suggestions, or crits on my character descriptions?

If you are worried then try this free wav to mp3 encoder http://www.dirfile.com/wav_to_mp3_encoder.htm
I know it works because it is what i used before I started spending my pennies on the real thing.

Hi, I'm back! I do agree with the order things have to be done, starting with voice acting and environments (which can be done at the same time). I think we need someone to decide and keep track of who is doing what charactor. P_R7 might be a good choice since he wrote the script. Whatever we do, we just need an offical list.

i would be happy to help in the casting of the voice actors if that is allright with everyone. If so then those who want to submit a sample of there voice READING parts of the script on the character they want to do then e-mail me the sound track.Make sure that you put (Anim8or,voice over submital)as the subject. And also include the name of character you want to do..and your forum name so we know who is wanting to do what.

the sound file being sent should be MP3 format so the file size isnt so big....cool..

hi,
I was wondering if there are any small in-animate objects I can model. I'm not so good at modeling, so if you give me somthing small to work on I can probably do it. By the way when the time comes I would like to animate people and things, because I'm pretty good at that kind of thing.

ok I think that we need to be more oragnized..So I created a small Message Board on my new Website space that I have yet to build so I made a quick page just for the Anim8or Movie...Please READ the Main PAGE, there is information you need to know before you use the Message board...I will update this board as people begin to post/e-mail what they are doing...It is nothing speical its not a new forum. Its a Message Board where we can go to see who is doing what and what is complete...If you see a topic that I have not coverd please create a new one with a subject line that explans in detail what the topic is about...

Go here to view the tiny little Message board for our Anim8or Movie...Please use this resource it will help keep things going.

The message board is a good idea, but the ads are a little annoying. If you want, I can look around the web to find some free adless space for a message board.
