We have enough posts to build a really long fence! Ha, ha.

feeg, it's here in txt format, which nearly every computer can handle. Try that link first. Waiting eagerly for eveerybody's samples!

Mr. Smeagol, I just feel guilty holding you up by keeping the tower and not doing anything with it... but if you're fine with that I'll play with the colors some more. We should start looking up pictures of
throne rooms.

I need some help with the fight scene. Read more here. Thanks!

I have a slight probelm ladys and gents. Everyone is supplying these voice samples which is great! but you have to remember that I have an 80Gb Hard drive that is full of audio samples and all of them have one thing in common. They are labelled with their own independent titles. Now I have several voice samples but I don't know who is who due to the fact that they haven't been labelled, please if you are gonna supply a sample of any kind give the sample a tile, your forum name and the date. For example benney_Voicedemo_07_06 this way it makes it easier for me to figure things out. So if anyone has the samples sent so far as backup and know who is who, could you please edit them this way and then email them to me please. Sorry about this but I got a little behind on myself and I've forgotten the order of things. I put it down to age LOL

Mr.Smeagol,I just downloaded your tree model and I must say Extremly nice. It puts my tree on my website to shame.(realy)...The way you used the trans maps realy makes it look realy good. I think if you have the time you should write a tutorial of your own on this. I would like to replace what I have on tree makeing with what you come up with if thats ok????

One thing I did notice is the specular is set to high on the trunk and the leaves. For the leaves there should be no specular at all..The reason for this is you can see the hlaf sphere.with no spec. it becomes complete tranparent. The trunk of the tree I think (imop) should be set at spec: 0.100 and the rough value should be set at 99 ..

I do think this is a very nice tree and is also lowpoly.

GOOD JOB!!!!

Thx for C&C&Compliments lol!
I have no idea why the leafs specular was on 0.2 ... i thought it was on 0... but I experimented a bit and came to conclusion that it looks better with 0.1 spec for leafs - and you can't see the spec sphere if 0.1 , it just ads a cooler shading.

As for bark specular I dissagre it shoud be 99 rough with 0.1 spec... it's like no spec at all... I also disagree with myself putting it on 1 spec, 32 rough.... I did it to show off with bumpmap... soo... here is 1MB 6 HQ pics so you can see the bumpmap interact with specular, rough & shading... so tell me which one you like best... (each pic has name of the settings) --->Download the pics zip 1MB<---

At first the tree was veeery high poly... I actually forced myself to, in any way possible, reduce the polycount I did it after lot of hard work

MP3D... you asked me ta make a tutorial... I would be glad to make such tutorial... only thing is that it took me few months to model and texture this tree.... so it would be a reaaaaaaly looooong .... uff... I mean - you must have lot of nerves to make such tree - 40% of branches is made point by point and extruding and cuting... other is well placed c/p and stuff... And you must think in 3D... to make it all 3D and not 2D/3D which is extremly hard in this kind of model....

Ok, I'll put this tutorial on "to do" list... lol, (well... considering my last tutorial was totay ignored...) it's gonna be hard one, and won't be a complete tutorial couse it would take me 5 years to make such... just main steps and guidelines...

Codfish - totaly cool voiceacting, There's some kind of crackling noise, as P_R7 said... you should try to solve that problem I guess...

Yea and Quote: "Wow! Mr. Smeagol, I am glad we have you on the team..." Thanks P_R7

Hello everybody

Just thought i'd let you know I'm still here and I I've been working on a new piece of music that came to me but hasn't been written for the movie. However the further I get with it the more I feel it could be used. Once it is finished I'll give you a link to the download.
I'm still trying to figure out a raptechno type tune for the movie (got any ideas MP3D?).
I would also like to say welcome to the newcomers and that tree improves everytime I see it - Goodwork guys. Keep it up.

Update:-

just to let you know I'm trying to get a feel for Rap and it's not happening at the moment. I can't seem to get my head around the fact that I am trying to create music without expression and it's driving me nuts so if anyone feels that it's more up their street then please let me know and have a go.

okay, i'm back because its easter and i have a couple of days off. So i'm gonna do what i can to make a castle as shown in the pic. The picture was with a tutorial on how to make a castle, so i hope i'll have the castle done soon to deliver to you guys. Don't expect it'll be soon, tough, i am a slow modeller

edit:
mr.Smeagol, i just noticed your optimization tutorial, i'm very sorry for not having it watched before but i learned a great deal of it. I certainly will be able to do the castle a lot faster because of the tut. Oh, and the tutorial i described sucks, by the way.

edit2:
mr.Smeagol, i appear to have had no idea of how good you are with anim8or. your tutorial has provided me with base knowledge to perfect models. I am totally redoing the castle, and the first towers are getting there. I am just still not good with textures. So if anyone could please help with doing textures, please say so.

Great news! I found my old microphone that is way better quality than the one I have been using.

Bad news, my sister had it, and is convinced that it is hers because she has had it all year. I know where she left her microphone and gave it to her, but I'll have to wait till she wakes up to offically take custudy.

I might not get it back unfortunatly. The other microphone is not compatable with my system. This one is, and is very nice quality, good enough for voice recognition (its original purpose).
I'll keep you posted on my "custody battle".

Startrekfan, hehe - what an aditude (almost as mine - lol), ok, I gave you credits in the tutorial... check it out.

Yes there are plenty of tutorials, but these are what I call periodic, meaning:- before you can use them you need to have a full understanding of the basics however there are a lot of people out there that are getting confused and so give up.
To create the sort of tutorial series I am talking about you would start from the very basics of modelling and then go into adding textures, then animation. Whilst the reader follows each tutorial he/she creates a set project and then when completed, goes on to the next in the series which delves deeper into the program using the same root and so creating a more sophisticated model etc.
If you check out the tutorials on my website http://www.Homesequencers.net that I created for music software programs then these might give you an idea of what I mean.

I have updated the castle now for the third time. With texturing (especially bumpmaps) the rest of the detail should be added. If anyone has tips or tricks for me on how to improve the castle, please say so. Tomorrow will be the last day on which i can work on this. mr. Smeagol, i hope you succeed in texturing.

edit: i almost forgot. On the castle walls, i haven't been able to make some good looking uhm.... i cant find the english word for it..... those bricks that are on the castle walls from where behind people shoot there arrows to the enemy.... you will see what i mean when you open the file from the an8moviezone.

Yea - startrekfan, you'r right about the "those bricks that are on the castle walls from where behind people shoot there arrows to the enemy" (I also donn't know what's it called lol ), and also as you said, the walls need a bit more work.

There are some very small fixes I could do on lowpolynes without changing anything.
Also I'll do the textures tommorow *too sleepy now*- I already found some cool looking textures

PR_7 - I'm just wondering what are the castle close-shots / interior+exterior requirements for scenes that we have with castle. Do we have characters coming in through main dors? ...or entering interior walking through exterior first? I mean - which other stuff should be moddeled aon/or possible to anim8.

I offer myself avaliable to help and/or continiue working on the castle (if needed) if startrekfan is away for some time again...

Also one more thing about castle - you seem the have set objects together in object mode instead of scene mode, so I'm asking you to set-it-up / re-position everything in scene mode. I did the very same thing with my tower - I began combining it together in object mode, then I realized I actually HAD to do it in scene mode, couse of the future anim8ions and the file is then much smaller in MB/Kb memory space it takes on yahoo webspace.

One more thing - It should be done on bigger scale to get the right perpective. Try to aim for realistic size as I did with tower , so the castle is in right proportions with human character models we will have there. So the camera can pass very near the wall, or through gate, without wall or gate actually dissapearing couse of camera beeing too close.

Benney - Wow... that's lot of work to make so much tutorials... Maybe I'll do something like that when I find free time cool

I think those are called loopholes or arrow slits- I'm not sure though.

I tried to make most of the close ups centered around the drawbridge. So I think we need the most detail around the drawbridge and the outside wall nearby , with some detail in the courtyard because you may have to see inside. There's some longshots but the textured castle should be fine.

You can change things apparent scale by changing the FOV, but scaling the humans would be a bother. We're going to have to set clipping ranges farther for the scenes as well.

Scaling humans would be impossible (in my oppinion) couse (i think) It's impossible to scale bones totaly... ( And it wouldn't be right thing to do even if it is possible, couse then you couldn't bring camera to show just someone's face couse it -the face- would dissapear)

I think we shouldn't play around with FOV couse we don't want to miss some FOV values therefore it would look unrealistic... I think we should do it all in proper scales and use MP3D's fix for large environments for far-away shots. Then we can have camera zoom in from very far righ into the room or any other place right betwen 2 characters and showing them and their interactions with everything else look cool, so we just kep FOV 60

clipping ranges... ee... you mean LOS ?(Line Of Sight) ?
