I started doing the exterior of the tower.
We are going to go for exterior shot offcourse? b4 the camera goes interior through the window - will you add this to the script PR_7 ? plz ?

Ok, I'm working on the coin(s) that are used in the first scene. Here's a WIP image:

How can I improve it? I think it would look good if I could apply a bumpmap of text or a bumpmap of KA's face on it. But I can't get the texture to apply correctly on the top face of the coin. any help wpuld be nice. The coins also look better when zoomed out. so they can be VERY low poly. However, like I said, more detail would be great.

About the Terrain texture. I couldn't finish rendering, I waited 3 days and it still hadn't finished, so I'm going to ask the creator of the program what the deal is, because a 1024x1024 texture takes 3 seconds to render, so why should something 2048x2048 take over 3 days? I could see, at most several hours. But not days! Welp, hopefully that will be figured out.

I also need to tell you that I'm getting involved in another project, so my time hee will be cut a bit. But I still REALLY want to help. So I will still be here. I just might not do as much as I had planned before. The new project I'm wprking on (with a group) takes modeling, so hopefully I can model things that wil fit for both projects. Take the coin for instance. I modeled that so I could take a render of it, then create a Sprite. It looks pretty good as a image too

Edit: I did a google search and i think i know wat you are talking about mayb not. Not really sure. Are you talking about the bad and blury thumbnails? and if so imageshack does the thumbnails automatically so i have no say in it

Sunflash you coin looks it could be shinier, and mayb a little bit more rounded. But, do we even need the coin model. they are nto really used seeing as how the camera never goes inside the consultants office. you just hear the coins click from the outside if im not mistaken

No, the camera zooms in from outside to hear them talking, you will see the coins, though the light might not be on them. We're not doing the walking on parapets, just an exterior shot.

The coin could be improved by subdivision modeling (my new favorite!) and better texturing. Actually something as small as the coin might not need subdivison, but it might be ok. Subdivision modeling is beveling and knifing subdivision objects to get sharp edges and super smooth everywhere else.

Madcrazy, I don't know photoshop, but in most advanced image editors you have different combine modes telling how the pixel information goes onto whatever's below it. For instance, a brush with "addition" brightens something by adding to the RGB values. Multiply will make the light parts transparent and the dark parts opaque, which works very well for UVMapping. Read your manual about how to do it, there's probably something in layer properties or whatever. Keep trying with the texturing!
You can think of anti-aliasing as a selective blur. Computers do very nice, smooth, shading, but the edges of the objects look jagged, especially in lo-res, cause the pixels are different. Anti-aliasing basically averages the edges to give you a nicer picture. You can set the modes in options, I think, and turn it off or on for each render every time you render.

I've lost track of who wants to do what in voiceacting. I know most of the people who have done samples, but I believe there were some others... you could all post in the voiceacting section.

I hope you understand now what is AA (AntiAliasing).
Now how to do it in anim8or:
go to --> mode --> scene --> render --> AA filter --> select "bicubic, 3 x 3 support" --> click "OK"
In any "mode", go to ---> file --> render preview --> select "Antialiased" before you render.

And I was working on the tower exterior - I think the upper part may be looking to futuristic... I dont know if you'll like it or not - I can change it if you dont like it.

About the coin - it low poly as it should be - nice , but the silver edge should be shiny gold, and it should be lighter and shinyer - And it definitly needs texture

NO WAY ! we need it to stay low poly !!! subdivision modeling is very high poly and makes lots of unnecesary polies (in this case).

heh, some typo benney . At least I've finally learned the difference between free Yahoo! and Yahoo! Plus . BTW, how can I host my voice samples? And I don't know about the rest of you, but my personal view is that the wolf/dog/puppy should have an american accent. I don't really think that the british accent has the right "feel" for a wolf, if you get what I'm saying.

Just upload your voice samples into the yahoo group site. Youl find a folder titled Audio. just create a folder in there with your name and then upload the samples into that folder.

BTW - Everyone... I have noticed that were about halfway so far as hosting space is concerned in the yahoo group so I'm gonna give you a choice of what to do.

1, I can download the audio samples to my hard drive and then if anyone wants the collection all they have to do is send me a request via email and I'll post them the samples via a file server. OR

2, I can create a sub group for just the audio samples that will not be visible to anyone outside the Anima8orMovieZone (it will mean you will have to become a member of that group aswell though)

I leave up to you guys (there's plenty of room on my hard drives for the collection and they will be safe).

One more thing - I have finally got animator running full blast on my new PC with plenty of room to spare. So beware I might actually try putting something decent forward for the movie LOL

umm lets see everythign and anythign to do with texturign i don't get. I just can't gras the concept. Like what each different thing does. Like diffuse and bump and all that other stuff. liek specular and ambient. so yeha im just hopelessly lost.

Hey maybe I shoudl make a voice sample for woof if hes gona have an engilsh accnet. Unless someone else is already doing it.

The head and coin textures never really showed up. I even tried reloading them. Hmm, thats what happened with the coin I made. I apply the textures correctly. Yes, bumpmapping is the way to go. What about a motto to put on the coin? Like, "In KA we trust" in replacment of the American "In God we trust" or something?

Nah. How about something in Latin that means Ugly Maiden Corporation or something. I don't think anyone will be able to see engraving on a coin in low light anyway, it shouldn't matter.

Yes, Mr. Smeagol, I'm downloading it, have patience! It takes a while before I get enough volition to move files from the Computer With Internet to the Computer With Anim8or.

Startrekfan, you have a bit of your orginal accent. The clip quality is not great, get our resident audio wizards to help you with that. The teenage-voice-thing (the only word i can think of is cracking) can probably be avoided by weeding out bad samples. How good is your english accent? I don't think you'll get a lead role, in fact you might end up as a Miscellaneous Screaming People. In your other sample you sounded almost exactly like the voice of an American puppet, so I think you should probably be able to pick up british.

OK... As some of you seem to be having problems uploading your audio clips, email them to me via ian.bennett73@ntlworld.com and I'll setup an online file host for them. Send you audio clips using the following file server http://www.yousendit.com/ and get them uploadeed to the file host which offers 2Gb of room and 100mb per upload max and all free. I will also see if I can set the host up with a password etc so that we can all it use so we can then upload/download both our own and other members clips.

Well, 3 weeks behind schedule, I have finally finished the script! It's not perfect; it needs spell-checking and maybe a bit more tweaking, which you guys can feel free to help with, suggestion-wise anyway. I've put it up so ya'll can read it and tell me what you think. I'm still taking suggestions on the fight scene, I think it's a bit short, I count it out to be only about 2-3 minutes. Ignore the bit on the end with the hippie, we're not doing that, benney. I forgot to delete it. You don't HAVE to read the entire thing over again but you might want to, there's a lot of changes. The rap.rtf file is not yet available. Just imagine in your head what a rap with the Dark Riders, who hate dogs, and Woof, who hates being called a dog, is going to be like. Especially since daog is an integral part of the rapper's vocabulary. Anyway, the raft gets built in that song, we'll fill it in later.

I'll see about that YouSendIt later.

Mr. Smeagol, does your tower have a roof? I like it, it looks great.

The dragon is a bigger part than I expected what with the fight scene and all. I might make one of you guys with accents the Dragon, an accent would work on him.

Any volunteers to storyboard the fight scene? Or at least design a cave?

PR_7, the link you posted is broken. And I might be able to at least help with the fight, or maybe spell-check the script for ya. And upon reading the script, I don't really get how you plan to make it last for the whole two hours ...

P.S. Can I do the puppy with an American accent? I'm no good at the British accent, and it sounds all awkward for lines like "nada" and "Let's rock!", if you get what I'm saying.

YouSendIt? *shiver* last I aw, they delete every download after a week of it being on their server. and the download link they give you, caan only be used, like, 7 times or something. Yeah, look up. We've already pretty much decided that the actor to do wolf will use an american accent and sound young.

Speaking of woof, I found an error in the script. In the fight scene he calls dragon a "dog chauvinist." I had gotten mixed up and thought chauvinist meant somebody who hated a race or sex or group of people, but it means one who thinks his group is superior. Close but no cigar. That's is how it is supposed to operate. Yousendit is not a host but an email client. This way if you send me or someone else a large file we don't have to wait 10 minutes or more for our email to open. All we get is a notification that it is available for 7 days to download as and when we please. In my circumstances I run through at least 250 -300 emails per day and it is rather annoying when someone sends a large file over 2mb as a direct attachment because then it means you have to wait until it is finished opening before you get on with answering the rest of the emails.

PR_7, Did I say 2 hours!!! I was thinking of 1 hour and 20 minutes, and I got that mixed up with 120 minutes, lol. I've only been following this forum since page 20 and I didn't see any definite decisions about the wolf's accent, so please excuse my ignorance. And look at the link you posted, it's not exactly a link is it?

hello everyone - I'm writing this from school...
I'm sory, the tower would be almost done if I hadn't got punished / grounded for computer and internet ... until I fix my grades at school... hmm... that may take a few more days...

And yes, PR_7 - offcourse the tower will have roof - It's just isn't modeled yet... Check the tower concept art - that's how it is supposed to look -aldo I aded few changes I thought were cool... Anyone else has any comments ?

Anyways, I found out that I'm going to be doing Suimmer School this summer, so I will be pretty busy, but I'm not doing nearly as much as a full semester. And my work load is lightening up. Startrekfan, do you want to take over the modeling of the coin? I still to busy to touch Anim8or or anything else, but things are getting better. I thinking about making the "No Swimming" sign later, but I want to find a good font that looks like red paint that started dripping before it dried. Anyone seen somethinglike that?

sure, i can do the coin. As for the paint: you should take first a font which looks non-formal. i use comic sans ms for such things. then, go to GIMP and write "no swimming" with the comic sans ms font. now you start off playing with the brush or paint tool, painting dripping paint. that sounded weird anyway, now save it, and see if you can make a bump map, to make the drops actually laying "on" the board, so its not just applied on the board flatly. i can make the bump map if you want. (im gonna need your "no swimming" texture, ofcourse)
