Right, i'll start doing the basic terrain. Heres what i'll make just tell me if anything isn't needed.
(1) Mountains
(2) forest GROUND(someone else can do the trees)
(3) Desert
(4) plz tell me anything else u need.

And the join/leave bar is letting everyone trough, whenever they want But i'm gonna need some critics on my castle. Right now, i have no idea on how to go on. What should be improved, what should be added, what should be removed? And i have added walking paths from the 6 towers surrounding the central building to the central building. i'm working on paths to the walls, too. They're mostly modern style, like some skyscrapers are connected by a walking path, such thing. Anim8ordude, you're getting really along with your terrains. keep up the good work! Also, is there any girl/woman in this group? It seems now there are only guys working on this project and i have learned that a bit female might add that finishing touch.

There are two thing I think could do with updating if you don't mind me saying.

1, There seems to be too many windows in the walls. You have to remember that the walls of a castle are for defence and so many windows would offer no defence. Maybe just having windows (or as they are really called "wall turrets" along the upper area of the wall and then turn the sky scraper windows into square windows Like they have in the states which tend to make them look like glass houses.

2, The colour- It seems very dark. I was wondering about maybe using a middle grey steel colour for the walls (with rust patches) and then using an image that depicts long steel plates running up the height of the walls.

If you want me to, I can create a jpeg pic of the sort of thing I'm talking about to give you a better idea.

This is only my opinion so ignore it if you wish (I do, most of the time 'grin')

Overall though, I think the castle you've created is great and ideal for the movie.

i have made fire using terranim8or and I have placed it in the fireplace and on the log but the top of the flames are cut off. I'll keep working on it but if anyone has some tips please post.

I think we'll call it "the Ugly Maiden Cosmetics Castle"... that si=ounds a bit like a big shopping center.

Hello Startrekfan. Could you send me a couple of jpeg's of the castle in different positions. This way I can create a picture of what I mean by using the jpeg's as reference. tried to open up your castle in anima8or but it wouldn't load up the the image files you used for the walls etc.

And to startrekfan - I think that stone or some kind of castle wall texture would do MUCH better than that windows little windows... try searching on the limefly 4 that kind of texture... if you can't find it maybe I can get it prinscreening the castle from one computer game of mine- let me know if you found it.
Other than texture - GREAT CASTLE!!!

Okay, so i'm gonna skip the windows and return to brick; And have the walking paths ready soon. Also, mr.Smeagol, have you modeled those tree and lightsaber yourself? they ROCK! They're a GREAT addition to the movie, and so are you. You're more then welcome here .

Yea - I modelled them completly myself - even the leafs texture - all by me - except bark texture which I found via google - but I made bark bumpmap myself. And the saber is made 100% by me - modeled but still not textured.

I think you should use white stone bricks for the wall - not red bricks (if that was what you had in mind)

Right now I'm doing the low-poly version of my tree for the forest - and some transmap versions for very-far forest.

I can also model chessboard if it's needed! (when the queen plays chess with her cat)- if that's the right script I read. PR_7's script v1 & v2.

Well MR.Smealgol you said that the castlecould use some interiors and as you have read in earlier posts Im already on top of that I have made the fireplace and im working on a royal bed and throne ect.

Thanks, but I've already made a chess board. Oh wait- i didn't make pieces! You can doo that. I think the chessboard is on the zone site in my file on the table.

I think we neeed to make a list of what objects we have. Or did someone already say that?

I think I will start modeling the queen's cat. I like cats For the forest, I volunteer to do underbrush, which is gonna mostly be transmaps.

Who's the best figure anim8or here? And does anyone have spare computers for rendering?

I haven't read P_R7's script yet. Is there too a princess sitting in a cave? Also, I would like to suggest to mr.Smeagol that Terranim8or 7 Alpha has a poly-reduction tool. For distance shots he can apply that tool(50% decrease or so) and he'll have a low-poly distance shot tree. Also, Could anyone help me with that castle texture? Until now the suggestions of you guys led to a white brick texture. Could anyone help me with that?

Yea and startrekfan & codfish - I actually ment castle interior-exterior... between walls and the main building. I had something like this in mind:

But I'm not shure do we need that kind of exterior? Will there be any scene between walls and main building? I there are gonna be such scene - we shurely need this.

The tree poly count is 93544 faces.
But non subdivided version is 7873 faces.(with no leafs)

First, thaks for the compliment, anim8ordude! The 3 scripts are the same, except none of them is completely finished yet.

I think there will be at least one castle interior shot, but a brief one as people pass through. So basically you only have to do a low detail wall that can be blurred and used as a background.

I think that would be cool if we can do blurs. Some studios render each character, character shadow, and part of the background separately, then composite them all, adding effects like D-O-F and focal? blurs.. not sure which is the right word. Anyway.

As long as you're working on the dragon's cave, an8dude, you might as well start working on torches, misc. rocks, a small pile of gold, and a solitaire game. (only one or two movable cards needed) You could model the actual cave as well, if you want. Basically round with a tunnel leading in-

This part is almost exact quote of donkey in shrek - I think we shoud delete it or replace it with something maybe similar.

Startrekfan - you should fix your's castles uv mapping when aplying brick or stone texture (assuming that tho one avaliable for download is the latest version).

I made the pawn 4 chess 4 now...the rest is on it's way.
I also finished the tree - added some more leafs. How do I upload my work to the group - do I just go there and press upload or do I have to send it to someon's e-mail ?

And seems we have only 20 MB of memory avaliable for our group, that wont be enough.

To upload to the group - Create a folder with your name on it in the Anim8or file section for anim8or files and so on then just upload the files you want to.

As for size this can be upgraded by creating subgroups (each containing 20mb's of memmory) with each used for a particular file format or part of the film etc.

As a side note - The main group 'AnimatorMovieZone' can be used for discussion through emails, this way everyone can keep constantly updated with what is going on without having to browse to the site because when you post an email it is automatically sent to all members of the group. Also you could use the yahoo messenger system for one to one coversations without waiting for replys (if anyone has this system installed already then if they wish they can contact myself by adding my id to their contacts. My id is - ianbnntt

Whoops, my dragon cave illustration is a little messed up-

Mr. Smeagol- I forgot to say that your chessboard texture is ok. Mine is more a simple ultra-modern look. Yours looks more royal. Let's use yours.

I've never seen Shrek, so I can assure you that quote was unintentional. It's a pity- that's one of my few recurring jokes, and I 'd like to keep it because another part doesn't make sense without it. I'm not sure if I've uploaded that part.

I would like to help with this, I mostly design buildings, architecture, and texturing. Also almost every texture I make has bumpmapping, and specular maps, it increases the detail sooo much.

I must agree that parts of the script is lookalike from shrek. Like the wolf, its entire character is a copy from donkey, Prince Charles Shrek and that S would be puss in boots. Anyway, it might enhance the movie, so why not leave it intact. Also, as for the int-ext shots from the castle: May i notice you that in the castle it is not possible to walk on the places you showed? I created walking tubes from glass, all you have to do is create low-poly environment to simulate the garden around it. Pointless, we're always happy when someone joines the group, so you're welcome too... You said you wanted to do something with buildings? If you say wheter you want to build cave, help with castle or something else you can be scheduled in for those parts.

Hey PR_7, I think that ur script rules, and as we're not selling it(thats what a lot of people said a while back anyway) i don't think it'll matter about the very slight similarity to shrek(2) .
Could u possibly type out a very rough sketch of your entire story, and then add the speech and details later, cos then we can all start modelling {with morph targets for things that speak or (Really sneaky trick this) give them full helms so that we can't see their mouths, and then we don't have to devote hours on end making them talk realisticly }

P.S My work on this project will mainly just be typing until i get an ocean scene i'm working on done. (If u give me a really important job i'm sure the ocean will stay where it is )

I'm quoting from "Making fire with Terranim8or" tutorial:
On the first frame (set in Terranim8or), the fire consists only of a bottom line of particles. During the next frames, the fire evolves to a quasi-stationary height and shape and stays that way until the last frame. "End frame" (set in Terranim8or) means that the fire is no longer fed and vanishes from bottom to top.
Now, if the animation has to show only a steady fire, seeing the growing phase can be avoided simply by not aiming the camera to the fire in the first frames. If the steady fire must be shown from the first frame, proceed as follows:
- count the number of frames to reach the steady state: # of frames = 60 - "Flammability" (set in Terranim8or)
- in the initial scene (before adding the fire) insert as first frames a number of empty frames equal to the number computed above, then add the fire from frame zero. Now the actual animation begins at the frame where the fire is already stabile.

Simply said: Count 60 - Flammability, that will be the frame where the fire has reached it's final height and shape (no more cut off top!). Record the animation starting from this frame, not earlier!

To PR_7.... You actually never watched Shrek?!?!?! And you wrote that script like that?!?! WOW!!! Amaizing - that means your as good at making scripts as the guys who made shrek!!! cool ! I like your script very much btw.
well - if you never seen shrek then it's unfair of me to ask you to remove that, -let's keep it then !

And ok for the chessboard - I'll do it together with the figures - 4 now I have pawn, bishop & rook.

And i just found out that I have to redo some of my tree - because I have to make it more low poly - the thing is I converted the subdivision to mesh to be able to uv-map it. That's also why my bark texture is 4000*4000 pixels (2.5MB). The mesh is now 11MB which is toooo big, so I'll delete everything but leafs and import the low-poly non subdivided tree - then subdivide it just a very small amount. And then repeat uv-maping....
(I tried terranim8or simplify mesh but i end-tasked it after half an hour.)

Hey anim8ordude - what do you say on the texture for the box? will you use it?
And It's a good idea to put helmets on some characters, to make it easyer for us. But the helmets shouldn't be worn the 100% of the movie but something like 30-50% cousi it would be stupid otherwise - never to see the carchter's face... And we can only make 20-30% of the caracters wear helmets - more than thet would look unrealistic. But we should do it!

1. Hm... I'm getting a bit of a feeling that things are going slower here. But that might just be me.
2. For the dark tower scene, i would suggest we use tower no. 5 . Further, P_R7, It's getting time you see Shrek, both 1 and 2. You really missed something, dude! Anim8ordude, i could help you with your ocean scene, since i like it myself to make water, too. What i have made can be found i topic called "making water" or so.

Chess is finished!!!:

My chess on PR_7's chesstable... ...cool

Hey PR_7 - I made the chessboard and all the figures in the proportion with your chess table. Check it out! -I uploaded it to group site.
Knight figure was equaly hard to do as all the other figures together!! (when cheching out the figures don't forget to render them - they'r low poly (yea that's right - no subdivisions at all) - they look much better when rendered!

And PR_7 - I just noticed you also made some concept art on the dark tower somewhere. I let you guys to vote on which it should be (including PR_7's conceptart offcourse). I volunteer to do dark tower after my tree is finished.

Hi everyone. I love the parts that you guys have been putting forward for inclusion within the film, they're great. However there is one thing I have noticed (being a real life professional artist myself), there is no cast shadow. For example - The pieces on the chess board all contain there own shadow but they're not casting shadow on to the board relative to the light position. I don't mean to upset anyone but I thought I would just point this out. Everything looks like they're floating.

I've never seen shrek, though I might want to see it soon- I might have picked up the storybook version somewhere out of sheer boredom, but I didn't have it in mind when I wrote this.

I like the chessboard! You need a few pieces laying on their side in a receptacle somewhere, like theyve been captured- my brothers say "eaten."

Most of your towers are better than mine, I vote for #4.

The privilege of modeling the queens cat is up for grabs. My pet cat of 15 years just died and I don't feel like making a cat just now.

Looking at my table, it needs some serious UVM. Any volunteers? I'm grounded from Anim8or til monday. (Wow, my parents know how to punish me! )
