Well heres my final entry. Nothing too fancy, just dark lighting for a dark scene.

Hello, forum. Nice work. I've just seen this post a couple of hours ago, and it is very interesting. I love lens flares, very usefull. But I never thought to make one with Anim8or. So, I used a model I started to build a couple of days ago, for a commercial. It is not finished yet, but I'll use it for this challenge.

I must say I only used anim8or, no photoshop, no nothing. For the lensflare I used several shapes to reflect the light, setting transparency to 0% and specular to maximum 3.2, I parented the light to the camera, and use face target to the light object, for facing the camera always, no matter the position.

I made six different materials for the lens flare.
you have some screen-shots to see how it works. The last image is tha same lensflare, with the materials transparency set at 0.23 to see the shapes I used, and rendered with Scanline. The finished image is rendered with AO, Global internsity: 0.310, ambient intensity 2.1.

Well done Daniel!  That's a fantastic lens flare you achieved.  If you turned up the AA settings a bit on your final render it would get rid of some of the grain which would be nice, but good stuff.

daniel99:
Yes, I know. Thanks a lot. But I'm just crazy about this noise effect. Most of the people hate it, but this is same as film grain. So, I really enjoy it :)

$imon:
Yes very nice work on the lens flare! The best one I've seen in anim8or! I wish you had improved the lighting in the rest of the scene a bit to match it thought, like turning the other headlight on and the overall lighting on the bus.

Good job though! Really like it!

As I stated before though, a lens flare can get quite inappropriate in a scene, in your case it might just be too big/bright to serve the image well.
