Windows Vista Save Glitch

(1/2) > >>

cfive:
First off, I love anim8or and congrats on such winnerly software! Anyway, when I got Vista, I was annoyed how anim8or (and 50 other programs) didn't work right, one day though, after putting it in compatibility mode for windows 95 I somehow got it workin (though I don't think it did in that mode before) I was pretty pleased until I hit the "Save as" button, which is when I got something like this:

I noticed however, that the texture file I had downloaded would infact show up so I copied that and saved over the copy. Anyway, can this be fixed in v.96? (This also happens on the export, too)

Steve:
Anim8or just calls the standard file save dialog function in Windows.  It has a "*.an8" filter by default and an option to choose "*.*".  I would think that Vista would behave the same as Windows in this respect.  I'll try it on a Vista computer to see if I can see something.

GREAT! Thanks for responding. As a note, like I said I was in compatability mode for windows 95.

Hey. I've been using vista for about 7 months now and I noticed a pattern with new programs to vista.
1. They either won't work or work glitchy.
2. After setting the compatibility mode to many different things it starts working better.
3. Works fine. I don't even have to use compatibility mode anymore.
I think that over time the problem fixes itself because of vista being updated constantly.
Try going to windows update. (just search for windows update in the start menu.
Make sure all your graphics drivers are up to date. (Just go to your graphic card manufacturers website.)
When I started using anim8or on my computer it was very glitchy, now it works absolutely fine.
If the problem doesn't get fixed I suppose that you just wait it out, because remember- Windows Vista is really (even though Microsoft thinks not) is at a beta version for compatibility to other programs.
Just to let you know. I've installed games on my computer that were meant for Windows 95 and 98, and they run perfect. After a couple years I bet nobody is gonna' have a problem with Vista anymore.

Steve:
You also might get things to improve by upgrading your graphics driver.  There are many little bugs in pretty much all Vista graphics drivers for OpenGL but they are continually being fixed.
