[ COMPLETE ] Challenge #20: Chain reaction

<< < (5/9) > >>

CoriDavis:
that was cool! it looked finished to me, but I don't know what all you had planned.

Mills:
Agreed, absolutely awesome work, Ensoniq5, genuinely outstanding. Loved the ending. Speed it a tiny bit off in places, but given the limitations of a challenge like this, it really is faultless. Reminded me a lot of the 'cog' Honda advert.

johnar:
 Ok. Heres mine. :D

Could've used a few tweaks, (lots really), but thats it.

ENSONIQ5: That was really cool. I initially thought 'MouseTrap', (if you remember that game), but yours had a lot more to it. Really cool.  Must've taken a while. ;)
I used a figure for my 'dominoes'. You probly did too?.
It may have just been because of the streaming, but some places seemed to run a little slow.?
Anyway, gr8 job. :) I might hav to vote for yours. ;)
 :)

ENSONIQ5:
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.  Love yours Johnar, genuinely laughed at the end.  Very nice domino effect, great environment, excellent materials usage and love the cartoon style.  I didn't actually use any figures, all the animation was keyframed in scene mode.  I didn't use a physics engine so the physics is a bit off in places (particularly the ball being thrown up and when it falls in the cup).  This is one of the things I would have fixed with more time, I usually like to run a series of short section renders to test the motion but had to fast track the process for this.  At some stage I would like to port this into Carrara for re-texturing and re-rendering, and making use of the physics engine, but it will probably never happen!

PS: I do remember Mouse Trap well, it was big favorite when I was a kid (before video games and home computers!) and probably contributed to my love of complex mechanical devices like steam engines, cars, etc., the magic of cause and effect.

johnar:
Yeah. Me too actually, (love complex mechanics), as far back as  'Professor Brainstorm' books. lol
( Perpetual motion machines are especially cool to make). ;)
Speaking of rendering out short sections, yeah, i totally agree. Its the thing really.
Defineately a time thing. You did well getting it working though.
 Thanks for the comments ENSONIQ5.
Cheers.
