Mouth morphs test
ianross:
Very good, indeed! try adding teeth next time. The blinking action takes your eyes away from the mouth. I did not mind the back ground noise, and you have a honest clear voice, well done. Thank you for sharing this.

Just a quick thought i had last night. If you are set on using your existing wav file, could i suggest that you break it down into sections of a dozen words or so at a time.
just a thought...although you might find it easier to go through the whole lot as it is. i understand that we all find our own ways of doing things in the end, that we feel comfortable with, so.....cool. Just wanted to mention it. :)

@the captain yeh, 'character' came out very rough, it was more of some lip-pokey-outey movement... It'll be worked on (if possible). The second half was roooough! I started of by hand-adjusting every few keyframes to get unique lip motions even for the same phonemes (taking 4hrs to complete 10s, so 2.5s/hr), but I got SOOO lazy that I ended up copying and pasting reused phonemes (reducing time to more like 15s/hr, at a sad loss of quality and realism!!)
@Crash I know what you mean. It looks a touch silly, especially when stuff doesn't work exactly right :)
@ johnar... I'll address you next post!! :D
@the DUDE lol thanks, and yeah! Hopefully my voice is pleasant ;)
@ian, thanks! You were actually the commenter who initiated the idea! In any case, I wasn't paying enough attention to where the blinking landed, which is why he blinks 5 times in 2 seconds towards the end. Definitely something ill have to keep in mind for next time. I'll also give the mouth details a shot!

The eye movements were planned to be what really brought the character from mere animated head with a voice... To a true human with which the viewer could connect. I was gonna make those really convey that thoughtful pondering which was heard in the voice... Directly based on what I did in the video clip.
The eyebrows I totally did as a throw-n-go... Just to fill space between the blinks. I used the graph editor to sends the eyebrows upwards or downwards at my whim, but I did not pay any attention to the stressed points, syllables, etc! I will next time!
As far as the breaking it down goes, that's pure genius! If broken in to 2- or 3-second segments, I'm sure I could achieve a much higher quality in still a relatively short amount of time.
CrashDrive:
'davdud101'. Just to clarify. I don't think it looks silly. I just find lip syncing truly amusing
and it puts a smile on my face. A character speaking is much more interesting to watch.
I think you're off to a great start.
