Is it Art?

(1/2) > >>

ronaldefarmer:
I particularly enjoy using Anim8or to create simple abstract images like this one (inspired by our recent discussion of spheres). I guess I do it for the same reasons that some people like to play Tetris or Solitaire. One reason that I find it to be entertaining is that I never know exactly how a render is going to turn out until it is complete. Of course, most of my projects are deleted as soon as I am finished. Occasionally though, I end up with something that strikes me as being interesting enough to keep. Here is my question: Can a computer generated image be considered "art" in the same sense as a painted canvas or sculpture. And if so, what can you do with it aside from posting it on internet forums?

 That looks very ÁRTY'
Would make a nice wallpaper or screensaver. Would make a nice poster for the wall if printed out poster size.  If it had a frame around it it would also look good on the wall.
Is it Art?....... Defineately!.  I like this one, and many of your others. Worth keeping.

ENSONIQ5:
Of course it's art.  It's also very cool, great image!

This is great Ronalde, well done, check out my free ebook, it tells you how to market your art work    .http://www.ianroz.com/page12.html

of course CGI can be considered art!  no sense in discounting it just because it's made of pixels instead of squidgy oil-based chemicals :D

as for the piece under discussion - i like it.  it might benefit from a bit of post-render retouching to help bring out the colours (maybe a 1920 x 1080 render for wallpaper purposes?), but it's a nice image.
