Making trees
kreator:
To make them lo poly you would need to add transmaps as leaf clusters , however, you would then have the problem of anim8or casting square shadows if you use any lights. :(
I have not come across any lo poly trees on turbosquid, the leaves are usually modelled and add the poly count to enormous amounts.
I have a Mr Smeagol tree somewhere that I could share, give you some idea, but it maybe better if you made your own trees, its not that hard!
Ditto: The tree generator does not work on WIN 7.
Was`nt there a plant generator or plantstudio that could make trees and things? Just thinking aloud here.
Some bits i found in my disk collection... They will be available on our Facebook Group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Anim8orWorld/

Hi, you can use "REAL TREE IMAGE + ALPHA IMAGEM" see my plugin/sample...

Sorry about posting the program that doesn't work in Win7. I should have stated that originally. I have WinXP virtual machines that I use for old (but well loved) programs that do not work in Win7. Who doesn't have an old XP license from an ancient or non-working computer lying around? Both Microsoft Virtual PC and Oracle VirtualBox are free, easy to use, and work so well you would think they were natively installed. As an added bonus, Microsoft Virtual PC with WinXP uses XP drivers, so hardware that does not have drivers for Win7 will work.
ClassicTyler:
I've found a decent low-poly tree.
I apologize for being absent...the method I use is I have a 3D tree base with 2D images for the branches and leaves. I use alphamaps for them.
Around 200 faces is appropriate, and I've found one good enough. Ill be replacing the textures with my own and while using the one from Turbosquid, take some pointers on how to make my own model.
ClassicTyler:
Although for some 3D effect I may download the ones on the Facebook group...for when highpoly is appropriate of course.
