Learning to write scripts

What would be a good first step for a complete novice like me who aspires to write ASL scripts? I know there is a manual, but it seems to be written for someone who already knows a bit about programming.

Goodness, resources for this is quite low and/or awful. Guess I'll work on something.

I already had some scripting and programming experience, so picking up ASL was just a matter of using the ASL spec and looking at some other scripts. The majority of my learning to work with ASL was just by doing it though, and learning through trial and error.

I'll start up a series of tutorials as time permits, beginning with a super beginner level one.

I had no idea ASL (American Sign Language) could be so diverse in its uses!   ;-)  ~ducks and hides~

'ronaldefarmer' having knowledge of computer programing language (like esp. c) can help but having knowledge of how 3D system work or computerized 3D technology function and / or about OpenGL can help more. so either try both or you will end up doing nothing worthy.
we can do it as we know both but learning only c may not give you much more, sorry to say :(

PolyGon_tError: I have begun to think that my aspiration to learn a programming language might be unrealistic at this point. I have written a few Apple scripts and Autohotkey scripts lately, and I guess I was thinking that Anim8or scripting might be a similar task. I don't know anything about OpenGL or C++ and I wouldn't know how to begin to learn. The last time I did any "programming" was on my Dad's TRS-80 in 1970-something.
