A few questions

(1/3) > >>

bayinghound:
I'm putting together a new series, going along with all the Some Guy in Space stuff. First off, if doing web episodes, what in your opinion is the optimal amount of time per episode. I've had people say 3 minutes, 5 and even as one longer video.

Second, the series goes along with a writing project I'm involved with. My eldest nephew and I actually developed a conlang (Constructed language. Examples of conlangs: elvish, klingon, etc) We were seriously contemplating doing all the dialog in this conlang. We have the written language,  but no accent or pronunciation and we though the video project would be a good way to figure that out. Thoughts?

Steve:
There is no absolute length for a film or story. Either length will do. What's more important is that you keep the viewers engaged. Once you have a first pass at an episode, think about ways to make the storyline more clear, length or shorten sequences to add drama or suspense, or to give the viewers a little time to let what just happened sink in. Thoughtful editing can help turn an OK film into a really good on.

bayinghound:
Thanks for the input. I truly appreciate it. I may have to do two versions. One in English and the other in the conlang.

ENSONIQ5:
I agree with Steve, there's no 'ideal' episode length.  It should be driven by the story, like chapters in a book.

bayinghound:
I'm still up in the air about having the dialog in English or the conlang and subtitles.
