making a space ship

As the title says, I'm making a space ship. I've gotten the ship body and the wings done. Now I need to know how to make the propulsion systems: ie the wings will have engine like things for getting it into the air and the back will have stuff for flying through space. But I can't figure out how to make it look right.

So what exactly do you want help with?  You can't get it to look right?  Nobody can help if you don't provide any pictures and don't tell us anymore.  It sounds like you're just telling us your problem.  Are you asking for help?

Yes, sorry, I'm asking for help. I need help with the propulsions. This is what I have so far:

I don't like how the engine looks. I think they probably need to be smaller... but I also can't remember how to make on end go in on itself. If anyone could help me or point me to a tut, I'd be very grateful. :)

To make one end go in on itself, use the inset tool on the back faces, then use the extrude tool to extrude them in.

Can you expand on that? I'll post what it looked like tomorrow... but it didn't look right.. I can tell you that. I've gotta sleep now though so cya tomorrow.
