Looks like a good tutorial, however my avatar is pushing it past the border, so it's hidden.
And just one thing on the update, good colours, but with low light monitors it's sometimes difficult to read the black font.
-
Thanks for your support Joe! as mentioned I have changed the text colour to something more appropriate ! I have also set your Profile to use an appropriate Text colour as well (Yes, You can do this as well)
As you know, we wish to provide all new users to anim8or with as much info and help to all its aspects both modelling and animation wise .
I think Animanon works well as the newcomer's haven, with its friendly and helpful attitude, If you have any questions or concerns regarding the use of anim8or then we are there to help you. We will never give answers such as " read the manual " or "Google is your friend" which seem to be the norm at the moment .
Part Four will be up soon
-
Just a quick update Video 5 is available to view at

Check this out people, it is well worth it! This is a great way to learn some of the most important tools in Anim8or.
-
Great tuts there Kev.
Any chance you could do a tut on how you animated the tracks?
Thanks
-
Jason all will be revealed later on this week!.... I`m just in process of getting the UV-mapping video tutorial done tonight, which hopefully will give all anim8or users a new insight to uv-mapping!
Just waiting for the kids to get off to sleep.... can`t concentrate with them up !!
-
Ok here is the UV mapping Tutorial If you can`t see it then I suggest you get over to Animanon and my Blog section to see it.
However, here is a link to the video....
UVMAPME (http://www.dotan8.com/Tank_uvmapping.wmv)
-
What program are you using for the UV mapping?
-
A good one!
-
ha ha, do i need to be animanon for this? By the way great tutorial! Hope you didn't miss too much of day after tomorrow.
-
Yes You do Guy!..... I am not giving too much away at the moment ... seeing from the response view wise to the videos (240 something at last count) and the lack of Input from Anim8or users, by way of polls/comments I am reluctant to divulge the software at this moment in time.
All I ever ask for is a little participation from the Anim8or community .. I don`t think thats too much to ask ....
-
Now now Kevin. You are doing a great job! Don't get despondent. Anim8or users are traditionally a community who like to keep their thanks to themselves (except for thanking God of course :) )). Shy bunch. Just check out all the work Mp3d did for minimal thanks.
Keep it up. 240 views isn't bad!

That program looks like a good find Kreator!
Thanks for the small tutorial there, it seems that's freeware?
Personally I still think unwrapping UV's then using a program such as photoshop is best, but this program is also very useful. Especially for getting rid of things such as seems, which are always very difficult to deal with.
As a side note Kreator: Your efforts are never in vain. I'm sure a lot of people appreciate your great help and tutorials you create. They're all very useful. If they were a bit easier to access they might be a bit more useful as you could reach a broader number of people ;) but that's just my take on it.
Your work is always appreciated. I've posted a few tutorials and gotten very little thanks for them, but I know in the long run they're useful for users.
-
I also think your doing a great job Kev.
I just wish I had the time to help out and animate a bit more.
That chat type thing in AnimAnon we were on yesterday was pretty cool.
Keep up the great work

Headwax: ok, ok im not despondant but its a bit like trying truspace or blender for the umpteenth time and getting nowhere! hehe...
HiHoSilver:If they were a bit easier to access they might be a bit more useful
what do you mean?? its freely available on animanon if you are a member.
Falloffalot: hope you enjoyed your Balti!!!
Next Video is up now "Making the Tracks and Animating them" ( Thanks NickE ( can you contact me please on Animanon)
Just as a side note when the tank is finished I will be starting another one this time for a Locomotive (I like Locos ... and Planes!)
-
hi kreator, can you please encode your videos in something other than windows media player format.
it is akward to run on linux.
-
I have encoded them in wmv format mainly because Camtasia seems to prefer that format Hector, I did do it in other formats but the Videos were a horrendous size!!
My 10 minute tanktread tut was 108meg encoded in Xvid so I have stuck with the techsmith encoder and wmv .
-
A good one!
Just getting the hang of this new mapper.......and wow it's not good, it's awesome.
It is going to save me so much time I may be able to finish a comp now.
Thanks Kev. Check out the link all it's worth it.
-
New update "Boning the Tank" video is now up on my bloggie at Animanon.
Jason: glad your getting used to the mapper!
-
Haha, nice video name.
