Hi, just so we are on the same wavelength, do the points that you select show in white on the screen ?

Now I see the problem. Your points are waaaaaaay too far from each other.

Move one point really close to the other even on top of each other then select Merge Points and if 0.500 doesn't work change it to 1 or 2 or even more.
When using high numbers make sure there are no other points within distance that you don't want to merge with the first two. ;)

Maybe they belong to two different meshes? You can only merge points belonging to the same mesh.

No, I got it now. You're trying to merge points of two paths. You cannot, sorry, but you can join the paths together, if that helps.

how do you join paths together?

Select them both, then build > join splines. Even then, you have to build a real mesh out of it before you can merge points. To convert a spline/path to a mesh. extrude or lathe it, again from the build menu.

ah, i think i've got it, that makes it incredibly tricky to model tho XD

Oh, it all depends on the way you want to model... some ways can be easier than others, and some can be quicker than others again - but maybe not that easy at the same time. It all depends on what you want to do and how much time you're ready to invest in studying new stuff. I'm getting a grip on the overall techniques, and this forum is fulfilled of skilled people. You just have to ask and you'll get some good pointers and advices. Have fun with Anim8or!

You're welcome stipend.

Unfortunately I'me quite new to 3D art (to graphic arts in general) hence no deviantart. About MSN and alike, I'm a bit allergic to messengers and chats, the forum is my ideal habitat: every issue that we could point out would be useful for all the future readers (just like me and you).

you can model the "spline"way. Draw a cube, convert to mesh, delete all but 2 points so you're left with one edge. Select the "add edge "  button and do whatever you want to do.  Repeat this process for other "splines".

you can also skip the first step of creating a cube by holding shift with the add-edge tool and clicking/dragging.  This will start a new mesh!
Basically, Anim8or does not have actual spline modeling.  Splines are different from edges and polygons, they're more like paths, used to define extrusions or lathed objects.
