General Anim8or Forum / Re: Where to sell?
« on: May 28, 2011, 07:55:11 pm »
I don't think you will be able to sell .an8 models. There is not really much of a market for them. Instead you could try making the models in anim8or, and then exporting them in another format (like .obj), then selling them on a place like turbosquid.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Future of Anim8or - Time To Move On
« on: January 30, 2011, 12:17:59 am »
Well, I'm sad to see this happening, although I can't say I didn't expect it. The Anim8or community has been really great and helpful, and I hope that as you move to other programs (or continue to use Anim8or) you maintain that same spirit. Other free programs like Blender and Wings3D will be glad to have your support I'm sure, if you start using them.

Anim8or got me started in 3D and I'll always remember it for that. However most other programs have gone far beyond the level of Anim8or, and although they might be intimidating at first, they have some great communities too, and are definitely worth your time. Wings3D just released v1.4 two weeks ago, and Blender is nearing their release of 2.6, which is a big step forward for them. Both of these programs are open source, which means that, being the creative community you are, you will have a place to funnel all those ideas to, and you'll be able to be very involved with the development process. As Raxx has already stated, don't be afraid to move on.

EDIT: If you are interested in using Blender, there is a great forum called over at www.blenderartists.org, and Wings3D has a forum focused on development at http://nendowingsmirai.yuku.com/

Cool looking mech and very low poly, you might be able to increase the resolution of the leg textures, they seem a little low-res.

Also the Polly projects is in progress (although nothing has been released yet...) Hopefully it will come out soon--if it ever does..

Hey It looks great! Although it does look a little stiff in the renders, for the animation I'd try bending the wings a bit if you're not already doing that...

That looks amazing, the first one was a bit to ordered but the randomized one looks perfect. I think some differences in hight might help(some taller grass) but other than that it looks great.

ASL Scripts / Materials Tutorials - finished
« on: March 21, 2010, 02:46:46 am »
Hey here are two tutorials I wrote on using ASL Scripting to write material scripts, and use textures. The first one is about using materials and the second is about using textures with materials. It is recommended you read them in order because the first one explains some things not in the second one. The first one is included in the March 2010 DotAn8 Magazine.

I added my recent ASL Beginners tutorial which is much the like the one above it. Hopefully when I finish the next one on textures I can add that link too.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Has development ceased?
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:39:50 pm »
I asked this question a few months ago too. ;)
for me the answer is: because this is not an open-source development(not that that's a bad thing) the users aren't as included in the development process, so We don't know exactly where Steve's at. He could release the next version tomorrow, or release it next year.. Just keep checking back! :)

If you want you can export the files for example I succesfully exported and rendered a scene in Blender once.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Make my own moving desktop background?
« on: March 01, 2010, 04:30:14 pm »
I did do it once using the gimp to create animated gif's but it took me an hour or two and you have to make sure you get the timing right cause otherwise it might be way to fast or way to slow. I found though that having an animated backround got kinda annoying after one or two days though....
