Ok so this is a bit of a strange one ???

When rendering with the OpenGL renderer no objects seem to affect the alpha channel of the render and the Alpha channel is all white. This causes pngs saved with transparent background to come out as all black.

one exception is if the object has missing textures (in any field but ambient) then the alpha channel works as expected.

How to recreate:
* Make any object with default or custom material
* render set to OpenGL
* render Alpha Channel (or render image and save as png with transparency)

strange temp workaround:
*repeat steps above, but write any texture name that doesn't exist in the project into any of the fields of the material used

General Anim8or Forum / Anim8or hotkeys RGB profile
« on: February 15, 2019, 08:42:09 am »
Hello guys and girls!
I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post, so feel free to let me know, and I'll move this post.

Anyway.
I'm trying to get used to using anim8ors hotkeys instead of clicking around the UI. I found it hard to remember them all.
I happen to own a backlit keyboard with RGB leds, and i thought this would be a great way to highlight the hotkeys to make them easier to remember.

I made this RGB profile in a software called Aurora. It's really easy to set up, and i've set it to automatically run the profile when i open anim8or.
It's still a wip, but I figured some of you might have use for it as well. The profile is made for a Corsair K70, but should work with other RGB keyboards as well.

Yellow represents tools, and blue represents shapes for the object edit mode.
The numpad displays what view you have selected in green

hoding ctrl highlights the ctrl+ hotkeys

holding shift hightlights the shift+ hotkeys.

Aurora can be found here and I've attached a .zip with the RGB profile for anim8or. if that for some reason doesn't work, you can download my profile from here.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re-doing one of my first projects.

Hello fellow anim8ors!
one of the first posts i made on this forum was recreating the things i kept on my desk in 3D, and the response I got was great, and taught me most of what i know today about 3D modeling.

As I am now learning unity and working with VR, i thought a good exercise would be to do this again 11 years later. (wow, time really does fly)
When working in VR scale and aspect ratio are incredibly important. So i've bought a caliper, and for the first time I'm modeling with millimeter precision.

Here is a throwback to my first real project:

And here is how far I've come on my current project:

My beloved Corsair K70

My faux Teak desk

It's great to see so many of you still being active on here a decade later.
Lots of love to all of you, and especially to steve for sparking my interest in 3D modeling, wich has lead me to my profession today (and still using your software no less!)

Hey guys! Haven't posted here in ages!
I'm working on a project at school. We're a group of students making a short video-series and i was tasked to make a 90s-style cgi bird.

Here is my progress so far. Currently working on animation for the first time :)

Hi!

Christmas is coming up, so i was thinking of this fun thing we could do to make this forum even more x-mass'y

so, the thing is this,
Everyone who wants to signs up, and says som kind of theme that interests them (start trek, football, whatever.)

then, when the time to sign up is over, i send each and everyone of you a PM saying who you are supposed to make a picture to, and what the theme is. Then, 14 days later (14' February) you post your image, and wish the person you made it to a merry Christmas, and a happy new year.

If you know you are not going to be able to post your image at that day, upload it, send me the link (PM) and i will post it for you at that day.

the last day to sign up is 31' of january. and PLEASE do not sign up if you are not going to make an image, just so you will get one yourself.

here is an example of what one could make if someone asked for a Zelda-inspired image:

I will also personally be part of this, so start signing up :)

Merry Christmas, and a happy new year!

General Anim8or Forum / 3D books
« on: November 07, 2008, 08:51:37 am »
not sure if this is the right place to ask, but anyway...

my school librarian asked me (because i have been stoping by from time to time, asking for books about 3D-modeling etc.) if i could give her the titles for some books, and the library would buy them.

so, do you guys know any good books about 3d modeling, texturing and animating? I have seen some, but they have been very old, and not werry helpful.

hoping for replies :)

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Moving selections closer to a center
« on: August 09, 2008, 07:39:32 pm »
ok, i have needed this feature for anim8or for a really long time..

If it was possible to select multiple groups of Points or lines, and then like.. right click to set a point and move all of them against it.

because if you do this with the scale tool, every group will get smaller as well.

sorry for crappy english, but hope you understand what i mean.

General Anim8or Forum / Could anyone rig a model for me?
« on: June 24, 2008, 08:03:31 pm »
ok.. here's the thing. i have modeled a simplistic cartoonish version of a rabbit, and was wondering if anyone could rig it for me, so that I could create running and hitting animations and such..

contact me on
Myrt535@hotmail.com
via mail or msn.

I am currently broke, and will not be able to pay, in any way. but i would be really greatfull to the one that could spare maybe half an hour of there life to help me out :)

Hi!

I have been using anim8or seriously for like, a year.

I know that I'm not a pro. But I'll post some stuff anyway.

Please give a comment on how to make anything better, or if something needs changing :)
