General Anim8or Forum / Re: Hi guys!
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:37:10 am »
So, I'm new to this software and to this forum. Now before you guys tell me anim8or's not receiving updates anymore, I'm aware of this and I just want to try it out. I also use Blender a lot so I would like to compare the features of both. So can anyone point me to some interesting/fun tutorials for anim8or?

Thanks guys!

Anim8or is still under development by the creator of the software. See topic ongoing Anim8or development for the latest release bro.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Anim8or program list page-broken links
« on: November 16, 2015, 04:13:14 am »
There are several broken links notably to the geocities pages.   I am interested in the waterfall/particle generator script and the realistic water script.   Has anyone taken the time to find safe sources to those missing scripts/programs?  Thanks.

If all else fails sometimes you can find so called dead links archive on the Wayback Machine. I've found quite a few old websites in the archives, but you still need to enter the old http whatever to locate these dead sites. Leroy.

Try https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=Battlestar%20Galactica&backendclass=entity&hl=en

You might have to convert any files. Even better though, have a go at doing your own with Anim8or!

Wow, there are a ton of models in that link bro. Thanks for posting them. Leroy.

Perhaps someone here can do better with what I have provided here in attachments? And provide the results here? I am new to this. Thank you

Your model group has a lot polygons bro. I tried messing with it in Caligari Truespace but the poly count or the model itself has some issues. I also tried importing it into Anim8or but didn't see the model group.

They look backwards from one side to the other. Looks like you might need to flip the texture on the other side 180 degrees?

I'm not familiar with how Anim8or does this, but it looks like you might try planar mapping the left and right sides independently?

Maybe you might also try dividing the model down the middle and use the mirror modeling tool to duplicate the other side with the texture applied?

General Anim8or Forum / Is Lua supported by Anim8or?

I know that the ASL scripter can write scripts but I was wonder if we can use Lua to make them for Anim8or. Thanks, Leroy.

Anim8or was the most usable out of everything I could find when I started 3d modeling 2 years ago.   It is very user friendly and the way the manual is written and worded is VERY intuitive.  Thank you STEVE your work is very appreciated, one of my favorite things.

Another good one I use is Caligari's old Truespace 7.61 beta 8 if you want to export animated models. I use old model side 6.6 version included with 7.61. It's pretty simple to use and is icon based in terms of it's modeling tools. It's no longer supported but is still downloadable via the web and free as well.

Anim8or is cool but I'm still waiting for animation support which makes it not as useful as Truespace in terms of exporting animation. Truespace, can export in X, 3ds, and it's own native COB and SCN format. Hopefully, Steve will eventually add animation support for something like 3ds or one of the other model formats that it currently uses. Leroy.

I haven't heard of this one. What is it?

Can Anim8or be run as an Admin by right clicking it's icon and setting properties to run as admin?

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: House Model

The problem was that I had used Raxx's code to display images, but it doesn't work in IE.

Bummer, IE seems is becoming quite worthless; I use Google Chrome on my XP PC. Even IE 11 seems very problematic as well.

For some unknown reason the image is just an X? Hmm, IE browser is getting flaky?

General Anim8or Forum / Does rigging export with an Anim8or model?
« on: July 13, 2015, 04:06:37 am »
I know animation is not supported with non A8 exporters, but I was wondering if the rigged model will export with other A8 formats like X 3ds and XSI? Thanks, Leroy.
