Here is an update to my character. I connected the brow as rellik420 suggested. I finished his eyes and added his ears, but I am no good at modeling ears right now so this is the best I can do as far as that part.  Still trying to us this Ambient Occluder thing.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / my new character named the tornado
« on: October 26, 2009, 05:15:53 pm »
Hello all. I haven't posted anuthing here in awhile so I thought that I would post my progress of a character that I am working on from start to finish. I am trying to model this character with a new techneque that I have never used before. I usually start with a primitive and work from that, but this time I am doing point by point modeling and trying to keep the edge loops in mind. I usually have a problem with the eye lids nose and mouth when I model, but this time I am going to try to model them a little bit more acurate. I also tried rendering this model with Ambient Occluder which I never used before.

The name of this model is The Tornado aka Professor John Tornado. He is going to be a super villian.

for the string part you were talking about, a good texture would help but why don't you use the spring plug-in? just change some of the settings to it and then use a bend modifier on it. That may give you the results that you are looking for.

Umm. It looks a bit pixelatted. I think it's the white edges around the models. The first one you can see the ring threw the model. Don't know if you were trying to do that. You should try rendering the video at a higher res. and using a alpha channel.

anim8or already does this if the meshes were seperated in what ever program that exported the obj. If the mesh has different materials on it you can use the select by material and detach face command.

I went to school for Graphic Design but there were a few classes to introduce me to 3d modeling, but they didn't touch animation.

if you are on a pc then the computer should have paint. It's in the accessories folder. just past your print screen in that and save as a jpg.

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Modelling a City
« on: March 29, 2009, 05:19:05 pm »
google it if you want free models. If you want to know how to model a  fast basic city, just draw out a city with an aerial view (top of the earth looking down to the grown). Then just draw how your streets will look and where your buildings will be. (Draw different shapes for the buildings, not just a plain box). Scan your drawing in the computer and trace around the difference shapes to make the land and the buildings (Make them seperate objects). Fill the holes in the different objects  and select all the faces( Except the faces that makes up the street), and extrude the faces until the buildings are the height that you want off the ground. Texture the buildings any way you want and presto! you have a model of a city.

if you don't want to draw anything before hand, just use google map to get an aerial view of a city.
