Thank you very much. I wish I had more time for Anim8or, but my college classes will barely let me sleep as is.

This is just a continuation of the yin yang fractal I have played with and been adapting for a few years (including my avatar for this site). Hope you all enjoy.

Wow, I really appreciate the interest you folks are showing in my work. It makes me feel appreciated.

The third version of the video here,
Not a major change, but I do feel it is noticeable.

I'm including my new .an8 and updated textures.

I will be making a tutorial for this technique, but it might be a while until it's done and up. This is due to the fact that I have never done a tutorial before, and my college classes are starting. So, it might be a little while, but I will be doing it.

Thanks! I only used the reload textures scripts while I was trying to get the trans mapping right and I don't think that counts. Everything is done in Anim8or and done manually.

General Anim8or Forum / Faux Motion Blur technique
« on: December 31, 2010, 09:10:24 pm »
I've been thinking about a possible faux motion blur technique for a while now. I finally got the time to test it out. I posted my first test video on youtube. youtube.com/watch?v=AlHXDT4ke-Q[/youtube]]http://www.
I am posting the full an8 and texture files. I hope someone out there can use my technique. I also hope that this technique can be an inspiration for further techniques.

If anyone has questions about what I have done, all you have to do is ask. My goal is to help the Anim8or community.

Edit: I will continue to try and improve my technique and post any updates here.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Re: RuneScape Scimitars

nice. Rune scimi? either that or mithril, I never could tell them apart at a glance. I tried making a steel drag model once apon a time, kinda worked out. Anyways, the blade of your model looks a bit flat. The ref pic and the blade in game have some depth to them. This would also help your shadows to make it look closer to the ref pic.

I have had instances where Anim8or crashes and won't work quite right again. The way I fix it is that I have 2 copies of Anim8or on my computer; one for daily use, one for backup. I copy the backup over the used copy and everything works just as well as when I first got Anim8or. Hope this helps.

Looks good overall. Couple of quick crits. The clouds look great, but seem a bit far from the surface. Only other thing is there are some weird blocked off black voids in the background.

I like your work, keep it up.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Mongolian Gutter Ball
« on: June 28, 2010, 10:36:05 am »
Hey folks. Bit of a story for ya. My sister is in the Great Dark Horde (Mongolians) in the SCA. Her and a few of her Horde buddies decided to get together and make a bowling league. They named themselves the Mongolian Gutter Ball. My sister asked me if I could make some sort of 3D graphic so they could print them out and iron them on the backs of shirts. I wasn't really given any specifics, and almost infinite freedom on this project. My idea was a bowling ball with the GDH symbol on it, in the gutter in a bowling lane. After some thought, I realized the most Mongolian response of a gutter ball would be a flight of arrows.

I am now done with this project, and will not be revising it. All the same, I appreciate any C&C, as I can use lessons learned in future projects. Thanks in advance.

It's called "multi boned skinning" and it's in the manual.

You can fix it in Anim8or. Select the face(s) it's reversed on and press the UV button. Then you can flip, scale or move the texture on just those faces.

These videos have given me an idea about a possible solution. Gimbal lock occurs in Anim8or on the "z" axis. In your figure, rotate the upper arm bone 90° on the "y" axis. This will flip what your "x" and "z" axis. This way, the motion you describe would cause Gimbal lock at the arms straight forward then down. Alternatively, you rotate the bone, in the figure, 45° and almost avoid Gimbal lock. Unfortunately, this would make simple 90° movements difficult, as you would have to change the "x" and "z" simultaneously.

Btw, I love these videos. I know, from experience, that Anim8or saves the rotation of bones in a figure as a quaternion. I never understood how these 4 values created the rotation I saw on the screen. Thank you so much for posting a link to these videos, hihosilver.

Anim8or Challenges / Re: Challenge suggestions.

My idea is to make something for Steve, like "Happy New Year Steve".
It could be a still render or an animation (a greetings card, animated or not), made only with Anim8or.
I think we don't need a winner for this one, just make somethink to thanks the creator of this great software and show how it is already powerfull.

I think this is a perfect idea.
