Finished Works and Works in Progress / EART
« on: July 02, 2009, 12:00:45 am »
 Hi all.
 Eart is done. :).

Managed to get it in at 9 minutes and 56 seconds.
Now that its finished i don't really know what to think of it. lol.
It was just an idea to begin with, and once i got started, it turned out to be quite a lengthy project. (as they can do). ;)

Got a few ideas nagging at me for my next project. One thing i do plan on doing very soon is to get a decent webpage up and running. Then all my stuff can be made available for download.

I'm really pushed for time at this minute, and need to be getting back home.
 Hope you enjoy the movie.
Will come back in a day or 2 with some pics.
 bye for now

 Heres a thought.
Mobile phone content is another way you may possibly be able to make some money.

 Check out www.voeveo.com

I'm there, under the name of Froyd, although i haven't been very active.

« on: June 24, 2009, 02:03:21 am »
Anim8or can import .an8, .3DS, and .obj files.

You can use your pic as a reference image, but i don't think Anim8or will take a .gif.
You'll need to convert it to a .jpeg or .bmp image.

Then, in object mode, go Build -> Reference image -> then select your .jpeg or .bmp.

As headwax has said, have a go at modelling it.
 Cool Ant. ;)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / 3 Vids
« on: June 21, 2009, 12:34:03 am »
Hello again. :)
Was cleaning out and came across these.
Thought i might as well post them.

 1) Awarkinthapark.

I started this short vid 2 or 3 months back.
 Never finished it.

 2) Sequences.
This one was going to be part of a tutorial i started making about sequences, and how much of a cool thing sequences are. You can build a library of sequences, and then those sequences can not only be added to l8er anim8ions, but can also be mixed together to create new mixtures of movements.
The trick is to only key the necessary bones in the sequence, and then be aware of any overlapping keys in Scene mode, when adding new sequences.
Hand sequences are a fast way to anim8 hand movements in Scene mode. (think hand 'poses' in sequence mode, that become sequences when added, one after the other, to scene mode.)
A 'standing still and throwing a ball' sequence can be turned into a 'walking and throwning a ball' sequence by adding the 'throw' sequence to the 'walk' sequence.  But you need to make sure that the 'walk sequence' has no keys that will interfere with the 'upper body throw sequence'.
This is done in Seqeunce mode when making the sequences, and also in Scene mode, by editing or deleting unwanted keys that may interfere with the sequence(s) that you are about to add.

Probably a fairly worthwhile tutorial to make,?, but first i need to finish 'Eart'.  ;)

 3) Expressions
This one i made 2 or 3 years ago, not long after Steve added 'morph targets' to anim8or.
That was a magic addition to Anim8or, and if i remember correctly, painted weights were first added at a similar time.
Both of these additions were a massive boost to Anim8ing in Anim8or.
 Kudos Steve. MAGIC. ;)

« on: June 21, 2009, 12:19:36 am »
rellik420:
Yes, you can add one solid object.
If you have a character that is 1 object, add him to a bone 1 above the root bone. (in most cases).
Then you'll need to 'skin' your character. Each bone will affect each part of your model, depending how you skin it.
 (search tuts/information 'Rigging and Skinning)

 matt the brat:
Washed out colour. Most likley is in your material settings. Actually, the naming of your materials.

The matertial on your  original object is probably still named 'Material01. Thats the default name. So when you copy part of it to a new object, you also copy the material name. ie: material01.
Changing the name to something b4 copying should fix this.
Basically, always name your materials, so they dont get mixt up when moving the objects around

The bicep needs to be a seperate object.
When adding eg: object 1 to a bone, everything labelled as that object will be imported to figure.

Select bicep -> cut -> go object -> new -> paste.
Now name the bicep. ie: right bicep

Now, in figure mode, select R bicep bone -> add object. Choose new object named right bicep.

 Hope that helps

 saijeehiguchi.

Do you realise that by double clicking on the bone itself, you can then manually enter the values of both length and radius of the bone.

I've only just noticed it myself.
When i sign in to youtube and hit the upload button, the upload page has some rules and restrictions on there.
 Max size = 1GB
 Max length = 10 minutes.
I might be wrong, but thats how i read it. ?

 Shucks guys.
Now that my head has swelled to twice its normal size, i'm totally reinvigorated.  ;D

Normally, after a couple of months working on 1 project, the inspiration can begin to fade.  But  now i feel as refreshed as i did on day one.  ;)

I've got the ending clearly in my mind now, and should be able to get it all in under the 10 minute thing.
Thanks heaps for your positive, kind and inspirational comments.
And, HI THERE RUDY SCHNEIDER!!  ;D Great to see your still here.

Eart should be less than a month away.

 Hello there. :)
I've been working on this short movie for a wee while now, and last night i thought i'd make a short preview.
  Some things could use tweeking.
The movie itself is now at 9 minutes long. Mostly done, but more sound to be added, and movie needs ending.
I've just realised that youtube have a 10 minute limit, so i may be able to finish it under that time, or i may have to release it in parts.
 We'll see....

 Heres the link

and i've posted a pic, which hopefrully will be shown below.

 Bye for now

 Nope.   :)
Easiest, cheapest option where i live is learn yourself.
Pick stuff up from trial/error and internet.

Would need to move a hundred miles away and pay big money for 3D modelling/animation school.

Mind you, would've saved a lot of wasted time, frustration, and silly mistakes, if i had been taught some basic ins and outs at the beginning.
  lol.     ::)

See if any of your softwares has chromokeying.
If so, there will be information with your software on how to use it
Its a bit too involved for me to explain here.

Chromo-keying removes a chosen colour from your pic/video, leaving transparencey where that color used to be.

1003
Another possibilty could be to use the chroma-keying function in one of the editing programs that you have.
The markings that you want to add copuld be made in a paint program, or even anim8or  ;), onto a  pure green backgrond.
Then put in that track above the footy scene, add the chromokeyer, and your dots/lines will then be visible on the footy field. The you will probably have to adjust the positions.

 Just a possibility.   :)

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Bone Animation Help
« on: May 25, 2009, 08:49:50 pm »
Pays to check the basics in the manual?

X,y and z axis each use different mouse button.
 x=left mouse, y = right mouse. z = middle mouse.

Turn on the 'show axis' button in the left toolbar.
 x = green, y = blue, z = purple.
This shows the axis  and limits.

Bones only move 'up, down, or rotate, so that makes me think more about your question.
If you can see the axis movement available, (show axis button), you will probably find that the bones are indeed moving along thier correct axis.

  Does that help?
