This is a model that I made in a structural design program and exported as DXF. I used Autodesk FBX Converter (recommended by Raxx) to convert to OBJ for importing into Anim8or. Raxx, is there any way to remove the specularity of these materials as they appear in the viewer?

Does anyone know of a simple way to convert dxf files to an Anim8or-compatible format?

General Anim8or Forum / Textures
« on: July 19, 2014, 09:57:41 am »
Hello Anim8ors,

I hate to admit this, but I really don't do a very good job of keeping my files in order. I sometimes save an8 files and textures to my desktop, and when it gets cluttered, I will reorganize things. Consequently, I sometimes lose my textures and have to find and replace them. I know it is a bad habit, but it is one that I am not likely to break. It would be very convenient to have textures embedded in the an8 so that I will not lose them. Can this be done?

Also, what about a quick and easy way to remove unused textures from a project?

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Share Your First Anim8or Model
« on: June 30, 2014, 01:48:27 am »
This is the first 3D model (other than just random shapes) that I ever made. It took me a very long time and has an extremely high polycount.  Does anyone else care to share? Feel free to post a picture or video of your first Anim8or project as a reply to this post.

Hello Everyone,

I have used Anim8or on many different types of computers, and have noticed very little difference between them in terms of rendering speed, etc. I know that Anim8or's system requirements are listed on the website, but does anyone have an opinion about particular system characteristics that are likely to boost Anim8or's performance?

Thanks,

Ron

Here is my latest Anim8or thing. It's something I did for my daughter's birthday. I like it because it is colorful and it spins.

Hello Anim8ors,

Here is something that I have been playing around with:

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/92694095[/vimeo]

As you can see, video quality is not very good due to Vimeo's re-encoding and the high-motion nature of the project itself. The video looks fine when played from my computer's hard drive, but both youtube and vimeo re-encode all videos, which results in artifacts and jerky playback. Google Drive also re-encodes uploaded videos. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can upload and embed this type of video in a webpage without using Youtube or Vimeo?

General Anim8or Forum / Browser Plug-in?
« on: March 08, 2014, 12:50:16 am »
Hello Anim8or Community,

I think it would be a great idea if there was an opengl browser plugin that would make it possible to display an an8 file in a webpage just like an animated gif. Would it be possible to create a plugin that would allow for viewing and manipulating a model in a fashion similar to using arc-rotate in Anim8or's workspace?
