Finished Works and Works in Progress / Odeon Cinema Screen (WIP)
« on: August 21, 2008, 10:49:03 pm »
Well, i've never really finished everything, but i plan to this time, i've just decided to try modelling an Odeon Cinema screen (not just the screen, the whole room) since i'm pretty sure i can do it, and it should be pretty fun to do, attached is all i have so far.

C+C is welcome

General Anim8or Forum / I'm back!
« on: August 20, 2008, 11:19:41 pm »
A lot of you won't know me, i stopped anim8ing about 4-5 months ago (i think) and i haven't really done any since, but i have made a few things, and today, I made something that looked pretty decent, so i decided to start again.  (it wasn't the only factor)

I have been looking around, and have seen a lot of new people, and the quality of new work (with the help of ART) is phenominal!  I myself will probably take a few months before i actually decide to use ART, since my PC is too old and slow for it... So... Hello again.

I am going to upload the thing i thought looked pretty good, but it's 1600 x 1200... so i may have to resort to imageshack... I will attempt to upload it...

Hopefully i will stick with it now... but it'll take a while before i can remember to regularly check the forum, and i need to check out that suspicious "YouTube" tab on the left...

Finished Works and Works in Progress / small island scene
« on: April 09, 2008, 06:59:22 pm »
well i play this online game called roblox, don't judge it before you've tried it though, i know it sounds a bit dweeby, but there is a competition to win some hats (inside the game) and any people taking part get a free one, the best entries get a place in a gallery and some extra currency in the game, well i made mine on anim8or, it was really useful for knocking up a good quality scene on this occasion:

An obnoxiously sunny beach, some unlucky soul found himself washed up with nought but sand, sea, a deckchair and a glass of soda on a wooden crate, i wonder where he is?

hopefully it'll win one of the main prizes, since it's one of the only non googled pictures uploaded :P
sorry the image here is a little small, file size had to be made smaller T_T

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Newbie misc modeling help
« on: March 15, 2008, 11:35:11 am »
the title doesn't really explain it, i think that we all need someone to help us along the way, and sometimes we will forget to include scenery and background "stuff", i want to set up this forum to help people with that.

basicly, anyone with newb or average skills can come here, see the stuff people are making, and get help from that.

sorry if i'm not making myself very clear, basicly, people come here, to suggest things for scenery that people might forget, and provide pictures of the objects they've made, to inspire others.

first, i'll provide a list of stuff that i think would be useful for a lot of animations, and the techniques of making them could help your modeling

gah, i'm just gonna stop trying to explain or i'll end up with a load of metaphors and similes, oh well, here's the list:

a pair of shades (matrix style)
Roman / Greek collum
An Award A brain
Can of cola
Alarm clock
Chain / Keyring
Mannequin
Camera (digital or retro)
Snow Globe
Toy using gears / cams / mechanisms   etc.
Telescope / Microscope Gondolier
Safe / piggy bank
Churchtower bell
Nintendo DS
Desk Lamp
Graveyard Gate
Platform Boot(s)
Spinning top
Photo frame
wire + Plug  (Mains or USB)
Fuel rod / Radioactive container
Animal carrier thing
Robot Head

i've made a few of these already, my models aren't great, but if you need an example i might be able to provide one

General Anim8or Forum / Anim8or Movie, official game?
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:18:47 am »
hi, i was gonna post this on the official forum, but it has been ages since i tried to register and i fear that i might forget about it.

I'm sure that afew of you have used Cre8or, a game maker for anim8or, well, i know it would take a load of work, but they could (after the release of the film) make an official game, this might increase interest from the anim8or community, and it would help to get more members, there would have to be a whole load more work, but it could be done, all you'd really need is:

scripters
Figure creators
Sequence creators
Modelers (or use the ones from the film)
Scenery modelers
Graphic designers
Possibly artists for the textures and materials

it sound simple but i'm sure it's actually very complicated.
if anyone here is on the movie forum, it would be helpful if you could raise this idea there.

thanks.  ;D

General Anim8or Forum / The Walking Bird tutorial
« on: February 17, 2008, 11:31:35 am »
i have tried this tutorial from the website, i skipped it when i started using anim8or so i decided to try it to understand the figure mode

it was going well untill i got to the beak, it tells you to make a square (NGon with 4 sides) but on the picture it is in a diamond shapr, like this <>
but when i made it, it looked like this [ ] the red and blue axis lines face the right way, but when i rotate it to the diamond shape, they are facing the wrong way, is there something i'm meant to do? or is it a problem with the tutorial?

thanks for your help

ps. can anyone tell me how to change the size of the camera? because it goes through the walls, or do i just have to resize the city?
