i'm just curios there isn't any prize money i'm just interested to see from the attached reference picture how many different variations to modeling people can do to get the results. (ie. dragon)

you can model any way you like i purposely did not include a front or top pic of dragon b/c i want variation so by not giving you the depth you can make it up.

thank you

to create a lense flare effect you need either a 3d application that has that built in as a render effect like 3ds max or light wave or you can buy a video compositer and psecial effects program like vision lab studios or adobe affter effects. and then using layers you can create an animated effect kinda like you would do in photoshop or in the gimp for a still frame.

or you can use the free method by downloading virtualDub and decom[piling your render from anim8or into still frames.

then in the gimp you add the lense flare filter appropiatly to each frame.
BEWARE that this is ver time consuming and i would set the frame rate to 15 instead of 24.

by the way blender is also open source so hundreds of people can add to it in addition to the company thta makes it

but anyway use a combination of 3d apps i usse 3ds max zbrush(trial) and anim8or. for all my stuff although i am trying to still learn blender

whatever works

by the way Anton you can edit a post if you misspelled something that you want to fix instyead of making a new one

the methods above are great but here are a few more

1-get an image of a city from lioke google maps or so and open it up in a image editor then play around with the contraST AND stuff and make it grayscale then you can use terranim8ors hieght map terrian generator

2-use a greeble plug-in for a 3d app i know that there is one for 3ds max but niot sure what else

3-another is to clone and align several differnet building meshs usiong some  plugins for anim8or

General Anim8or Forum / tutorial- low poly wireframe render
« on: March 30, 2009, 09:15:20 pm »
here is a small tutorial i've been holding back for a while.

bassicaly the goal of this tutorial it to render a wireframe withought using the conventional way of inseting all the faces and using different materials. this tutorial is for guys who have a 5000 face mesh and don't want a wireframe render to be 25000 faces, and don't want to use the [print screen] button.

so now we begin:

1-exprot your mesh from anim8or as an obj after applying any material you want doesn't matter as long as you don't have any ART settings applied.

2-open up lithunwrapper (free and found at this website http://www.sharecg.com/v/5169/software-and-tools/LithUnwrap---Free-UV-Mapper-for-Windows .

3-load your model in and select all faces.

4- apply a face UV map and make sure that they aren't overlapping.

5-save the model and save the UV (preferable at 1500x1500 the higher the better)

6- load up anim8or again and improt your obj model.

7-import the new UV texture map in the opacity slot in the material editor.
(make sure specular highlights are turned off)

8-render and there you have it.

9-for variation you can also set an emmissive map with a value of one for soem other effects.
