General Anim8or Forum / Re: Future of Anim8or
« on: February 27, 2011, 08:41:41 pm »
Since this seems like a big deal thread I figured I'll put in my two cents.

Anim8or has birthed me and raised me as a child.  It helped to develop my understanding and skills in 3D art, and I will be forever grateful for that.  I moved on a while ago to other programs such as 3DS Max, but that doesn't change my love for the program.  Even when I had moved on I tried to stay close with the forums as I have a strong connection to them.  Obviously I've fallen off, but that's how life goes sometimes.  I'm in college now at USC, studying Animation/Digital Art.  Of course I couldn't have done any of this without Anim8or, as a good portion of my portfolio contained what I had worked on in the program, and any understanding I had came through Anim8or.  I'm busy with so many things now with classes, work, soccer and even more, that I don't really have the time to be involved with forums of any type at the moment.  I check in from time to time but that's the best I can do.

I've had a phenomenal time with all of you on the forums and those who have already left, and thank you all and anim8or so much for helping me with who I've become today.  I may peek my head in from time to time but you most likely wont hear from me much, so good luck in all your endeavors and keep kicking ass.

With much love,

Hihosilver

He's a busy man.  He has a full time job.  Many people, being currently in school, or perhaps without full time jobs may not realize this.  His job takes up the majority of his time and I'm sure he has a life beyond that as well.  He love Anim8or and this community, he just can't dedicate all his time to it.  He is still active, simply not everyday.

Do you have a file you wish us to use originally?

I agree!  Open challenges would be better, and then you may even see me participating at some point if I ever get free time

PNG's are easy to convert to a usable format, so don't eliminate the option of using those textures.  I do agree, PNG's would be a wonderful feature, the issue is this feature's been requested a thousand times already, and most people want it.  I believe Steve knows people want it to be implemented, he just hasn't gotten around to it yet, as he's a very busy man!

My guess is just that you have too many vertices/edges for the face to be built.  There may be some kind of a limit in Anim8or.  I would try working to code so that when the circle is created it creates multiple faces instead of the single one.

This tool looks amazing!  I may have to pop Anim8or out of hibernation right quick just to give it a whirl!
Wow Raxx, all I can say is wow.  What a brilliant program.

Focus on your art but also your schooling and grades right now.  If you do well in high school you'll have a lot more options for yourself in the animation industry as well.  There are online schools and straight art schools yes, but some of the best schools require strong academics as well.  Just a bit of advice!

General Anim8or Forum / Re: Exporting Half-Life models for gmod?
« on: September 19, 2010, 09:09:01 pm »
No, it's not illegal.  What you need to figure out is what filetypes you need for the half-life models, and find a convertor for that.  This is more a question for the half-life mod forums really.  Anim8or can export different formats such as .obj, .3ds, and there are plugins for things such as .x or other formats.  You will not be able to export Anim8or animation, if you're trying to animate a figure you have to use another program such as milkshape 3D.
Do some internet searches though on the half-life side, as you'll most likely get more information there, then come back and let us know what formats you can use, etc.

Good luck!

Great stuff as always Ensoniq5.  You always do a good job, and on a complicated project too!  I love the stencil idea in the end, truly original.

Headwax, congrats mate!  That's amazing.  It seems I've missed a good deal of artwork you've been doing, but I'm checking out your blog now.  It's been amazing to see you grow in the way you have!

Voted will be on the best still image.

Nope, movies/animations wont be judged in the final entries.  Kreator simply enjoys animation so he goes the extra mile to put his work in motion.  I would always encourage animation, but this competition will be based on images.
