To finalize my western project "A native American" (http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=3898.0) I had to balance it with a cowboy theme  ;D

So here's a little corner of a frontier town, enjoy

ASL Scripts / Braid script request
« on: January 01, 2011, 02:22:35 pm »
I have no idea on how to write a script and would be very grateful if anyone capable could write (if at all possible, of course) a script to build a braid or plait.

This would be very useful for all kind of purposes and not just hair braids.

I'm building this native American head because I very much like the noble stance of the man in the original photo.
I still have to figure out how to best build the overall hair mesh but I have already tried several ways of building a braid but nothing really works.
A script like the chainmaker from NickE, is the closest to resembling a braid but it needs a twist of 3 strands and chainmaker only simulates 2 strands.

The attached scanline renders are of the head mesh (not subdivided) to give you an idea.

Should anyone take this on, then many thanks in advance.

While the living are having their Halloween party at the mansion, the spirits are having a ball in the graveyard.

Everything modeled and textured in Anim8or including the ground but not the tree. Rendered in Vue.

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Banff Project
« on: July 13, 2010, 01:39:18 pm »
Though you haven't heard much of me lately I am here quite often to keep up to date and I have seen some great work in the meantime.  :)

I am still working away at my project of recreating a Scottish town as it would have looked in the 1700s. So far it has taken me over 400 hours and it isn't finished by far.
Those of you who don't know what I'm talking about here is more and some pictures here : http://www.anim8or.com/smf/index.php?topic=2660.0

By the end of this month an animation of what exists already will be shown in a constant loop at the Banffshire History Festival which runs over two days.

The animation was made at the request of the organisers and includes a narrator voice to guide the viewers through it and the voices of a father and his little girl who traveled back in time, for entertainment and extra information.

Though the project is not yet finished the result is actually better than I had expected  ;D

Finished Works and Works in Progress / The Museum
« on: November 08, 2009, 06:35:19 pm »
After working all Summer on my 18th Century town I have now gone back to finishing my museum project which will be on my Xmas(card) CD.

The story : a boy takes a walk in the park, it starts to rain so he goes to the nearby museum for shelter.
Only it's not just an ordinary museum as he will find out for all kinds of "things" happen with the items on display. This is a good excuse for lots of animation work ;)

You can see a video clip of the boy entering the museum
Enjoy :)

General Anim8or Forum / Error in reading file
« on: October 02, 2009, 01:58:35 pm »
A major problem.  :'(

After I had Shift-z two splines and was moving both points upwards, Anim8or crashed unexpectedly.

Reopening the file gave "Error in reading file" and the same error in the back-up file which was auto-saved 20 minutes after the last save of the working file.

The file is an accurate model of a house from 1675 and still lived in today.

I would really appreciate any help in getting this file to open again for I dread to have to spend so much time again remodeling from scratch.

I zipped the file to save space on Steve's server so anyone wanting to have a look will have to unzip it.

Many thanks in advance for any help I can get.

General Anim8or Forum / Add Edge won't snap
« on: September 13, 2009, 07:55:12 am »
For my big project I am remodeling a bridge because it's not historically correct.

However, I'v run into a problem in that Add Edge won't snap to the next point in some places.

In this screen shot the two red new edges snapped from point to point without any fuss, yet when I want to link the points at either side of the yellow lines (added in PS) Add Edge won't snap to the second point and though the 2 points are very close together I can't Merge Points either to fix it.

Any ideas ?? All help is much appreciated.

Many thanks

Finished Works and Works in Progress / Remains of the day

It's a long time since I posted a still image because of my current big project but after all the rust and grime with the rust challenge I wanted to see something refreshing.

Here it is, two dolphins frolicking in the sea under the rays of a setting sun

Dolphin(s) modeled in Anim8or but scene rendered in Vue because of the water.
(My apologies Steve, once water comes to Anim8or it won't happen again ;)  .)

Finished Works and Works in Progress / French suburbia
« on: January 31, 2009, 09:04:27 am »
This is my next project in the making, a "maison bourgeoise" (bourgeois house) with on the left and the back a park and some more details I'm still thinking of.

That's why I'm looking for realistic trees to simulate the park.
The plants with the yellow flowers are made with PlantStudio and it's OK since they are too far to show any detail. Trees however, are a totally different matter.
I trawled pages and pages of the major search engines results and nothing more came up. It's likely that there is a little gem out there but for now it's lost in cyberspace ;)

General Anim8or Forum / Trees and plants
« on: January 28, 2009, 05:17:59 pm »
Does anybody know of a realistic tree and plant generator with modeled leaves (not transmaps, because of the shadows).

I'm looking for a program not necessarily free but neither at $400 because in that case I know where to go ;D

Many thanks for any suggestions.
