I would apply the map to a sphere with already high divisions instead of a subdivided default sphere. This will let you get rid of the texture flaws on the top and bottom of the ball.

Which isn't the best solution if that object is part of a moving entity...

I'd really wait until it becomes a full feature.

Huh... Yeah...

I just don't like the way it HAS to be rendered while it's working otherwise you're screwed.
I'd want to scrub through the animation. :/

It's a big leap in the program, though...

Well, first off, you could use Google and search for the information your looking for, because tutorials can nearly always be translated to different programs, for example a tutorial for Max, can be applied for Anim8or for the most part and usually the writer also includes extra information such as why your doing something, real-world examples, other practices to follow etc
Although if you are asking for Anim8or related tutorials so you can be Anim8or than my mistake.
While I'm here; I personally believe trial and error is a great way of learning as you might not get what you want, but you might instead figure out something else in the process, and there's no right way to do something in Art, although there are a few standards you might want to follow.

After witnessing a toddler's life of this forum's existance, I have seen that there have been HUNDREDS of different questions posted by HUNDREDS of different people HUNDREDS of different times! If there's one thing we know, it's that almost no noob can use the search function. This would help.
