In contrast to the smears and coffee rings on the table surfaces, the seat cushions look too clean  in my opinion.
It also makes them look rather samey.
EDit: *blush* re-read your post, yeah, I see now your planning to change that. All right then.

The height map I found is fairly high resolution, I'll re-extrude (or whatever the technical term is)  with higher divisions, perhaps adding a few rocks on the surface.
As for  animating, I hope to. Besides just having fun exploring this art, I made this model with every piece of knowledge I know on making a simple to animate model.
Do you, or any else, know any good tutorials on using the influence volumes?

Thank you very much.  ;D
Alas, texturing, as mentioned, is a dark and mystical art to me as rigging, if not more so.
I made this little scene using a lander I made for our intrepid adventurer, and the ground is a heightmap of some craters I found online  extruded in terranim8or.

Judicious use of the cut faces tool along with some extrusion would also do it, but it would be fairly messy.

I made this little spaceman over the last couple days and most of it went fairly quickly, at least for me. I might tweak the fingers to they are more cartoony proportions and make the the booties more detailed, but otherwise I like how it turned out. It's a mix of box modeling with some wirework, especially for the legs. I don't know if there is an officially term for wireing together shapes to other shapes and then adding surfaces, but I did a bit of that too, as I find it's a nice way to add detail. The chest plate mostly.
For once, I like how it looks both subdivided and normal.
All colouring is with materials, texturing is dark voodoo to me still.

Personally, I'd make the eyes more oval, right now they basically look like cylinders with domes on top.
It's a small thing, but it really stands out to me.

Maybe increase the depth of the abs, right now they feel a little flat.

Maybe a bump map might help give some of the striations seen in the image attached to the original post. Other than that, my lack of experience leaves me with few suggestions.

The slow way, extrude and angle edges incrementally?

The forelock of pinkie pies mane in subdivision mode looks more like an extruded 'tongue' rather than an extension  of the main body of her hair in my opinion. Otherwise really good, just shows me how far I have to go.

Are the bumps on the face meant to be eyes? I am not sure if this is a good practise, but I find if you dip in a bit and then extrude outward, it can help make them look separate when subdivided. This also helps with cartoon-style solid 'hair' to make it look like it is coming from the head and help prevent materials from 'leaking' when subdivided.

Translating a 2D image into a 3D shape always has issues, but this is quite impressively organic looking, even without subdivision.

As an animation critic, the figures seem to have little weight and mass. I know this is hard to do, particularly in 3D, but it can go a long way in making a character feel alive.
Still, for anim8or? Absolutely impressive.
Reminds me of ReBoot and other early CGI cartoons.

I am no programmer, so how implementable this is, is way beyond me.
But what if, as variation of the Insert tool in face editing, instead of  adding a smaller copy of the face inside, you insert a smaller polygon, with a menu for how many faces you want the inserted polygon to have.
