Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: overlapping trans maps glitch
« on: June 11, 2008, 08:00:24 am »
The dust objects are just a single polly thick. I'm only using the default anim8or materials though, so i shouldn't be having this problem.
I'll try fully enclosing the objects anyway and see if the helps.

ASL Scripts / Re: Script Request: Chain Link Maker

perhaps you could make the link, stretch it, and then rotate it and place it on the spline.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / overlapping trans maps glitch

When i render using the raytracer and overlapping trans maps, the trans maps seem to cancel eachother out:

raytraced

scanline

scene setup

It shouldn't be that hard to do. all the script would have to do is find the width of the objct, and copy it along the spline.

you can jump to a specific frame though.

double click on the timeline. in the window that opens up, there is a box that says "current", you can enter a number in there to jump to a specific frame.

i have the same problem as kubajzz.
Windows no longer supports .chm files after windows vista. it's not an error, the file type is just out of date.

That always puzzled me...

what are additional ART textur modes?
I'd like to see a texture mode that allows an objet to be used as a light.

I like the idea. i was a little disapointed to find that the offline manual wouldn't work on my shiny new vista...
I'd love for users to make translations of the maual in their own languages.

perhaps steve could have a built in translation function for the program too. Anim8or could simply simply read a text file that would tell it what to display.
eg.
Code: [Select]
open=whatever
save=whatever
render=whatever
ect.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Multithreading
« on: May 19, 2008, 12:13:31 pm »
whenever i need to render a long animation or a shorter one with a lot of detail, I open multiple windows of anim8or. That way i can render and animation that would normally take 20 hours of rendering in about 5. After i finish I use virtualdub to put the .avi's together.

just a nice work-around i've done. multithreading would still be nice.

a note here for steve: I've noticed that the further the rays have to travel, the longer the render takes. if you put a spher around the camera with a diameter of 1 000 and render, it will be noticibly shorter that a render with a sphere with a diameter of 10 000. nothing major though.

well, it's not really all that important. the reflections were only a minor part.

I've noticed that ART does not render 2 sided materials. it only renders the front. it's not really that important but now i can't use ART features and the toon tutorial.

steve, maybe you could add 2 sided material support to ART, if that wouldn't involve too much trouble.

thanks,

so... how will we take the images of the world. i think the easiest way will be to put the whole level together in scene mode and render the views from each location. this would keep all of the perspectives accurate. when you finish you could render videos a cutscenes between locations.

the story sounds good. i think i might help out.

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / Re: Windows Vista and Plug-Ins
« on: February 04, 2008, 10:32:10 am »
I don't have any problems with vista and plugins...
i run anim8or with windows XP compatability and the 'run program as administrator' checked off.
maybe Vista won't let anim8or access dos without administrator access.
