General Anim8or Forum / hair
« on: August 01, 2009, 03:51:06 am »
ive never even attempted hair yet. but i know you can use transmaps or particles. i know anim8or doent have particles. i was just wondering wich is better to use.

i figure if u have a low poly model trans maps r best, but a high poly model particles r best.

im looking into videogame design. im studied a little bit of c++. i just got irrlitch and im using dev c++ as my compiler. i cant figure out configuring the ide but once i get started... i would like to know if particles (hair or indefferent) is the best method to use.

Im sure some of u guru's (of every aspect) can help me out,

Finished Works and Works in Progress / just found an old model
« on: July 28, 2009, 04:00:38 am »
this was my 1st attempt on a human head. its really sloppy. i dont even want to show the wire frame. My old computer took a crap on me and luckily i saved a bunch or files on cd. and i found this. I won;t come back to this caue it would prolly be easier to just make a new one from scratch. but here it is.

General Anim8or Forum / function i dont know about?
« on: July 26, 2009, 11:28:12 pm »
im always learning new stuff but i was wondering if there was a functio (button) to delete edgepoints and leave the lines connected.

l  l  l    l  l  l
x x x    l  l  l
l  l  l    l  l  l

heres a makeshift diagram so you know what im talking about. you delete the middel points and the lines stay intact. If there is no such thing it would be awesome to have. its a pain to connect a bunch of edges liek that manually.

General Anim8or Forum / somethings wrong
« on: July 16, 2009, 05:16:43 pm »
i just downloaded anim8or .95a and .97d.

My problem is i always see lines even in smooth shaded mode. I see edge points when im in point edit mode. At 1st i thought i would like it because u cane see edgepoints while in flat mode. but it takes away from smooth mode completely.

if some1 had this problem b4 please let me know how u fixed it. if no1 knows ill try to post to steve. thanks.

General Anim8or Forum / Tutorials on forums?
« on: June 03, 2009, 03:34:47 am »
I think there is quite a few of anim8ors who know what they r doing. My idea is to have a compilation of the best of the best (you know who you are). Cover all of the basics to 3d animation. Lighting, shadows, topology, textures, etc. I havent really covered much of all the aspects of 3d, but im trying to. The worste part of it is *Trial and error*. I can spend hours trying to figure out how to light my scenes or th,e best way. How to manipulate tectures. How to model an object to rig it and all kinds of other things. I figure, having a "grab bag" of everything 3d related would help alot.

I'm to the point where I'm using anim8or in my sleep. But, I don't know the "right" ways to do everything.

It's just a thought but i think it would really help alot of people. I know there are more than a handfull of people who have helped me out a great deal. I just want it all to be in the same place for every1 else.

General Anim8or Forum / tutorials
« on: May 10, 2009, 02:55:28 am »
there really needs 2 b some tutorials on the site. it take awhile 2 search the forums. I havent done 2 much texturing. ( i can never seem 2 finish my models) ive looked at bump maps and greyscales cant really get a good tut. and im not exactly sure wich 1 to use.

id like some help but most of all id like some1 to make a tutorial or 2 on the tutorial section of the site. so it will b a bit more organized.

my problem is im trying to make a dirty metal texture and i want it to stand out more. so if any1 wants 2 point me in the right direction thank you. but again i think every1 would b better off if some1 made a few tutorials or really helpful general advice every1 would b happier. thanks

Anim8or v0.98 Discussion Forum / new stuff
« on: May 02, 2009, 07:29:46 pm »
im not sure if this is the right part of the forum or not, but theres a few things that would be helpfull. I hope you consider some of these. thanks

you can double click on a single point in point edit mode and set ur cordinates. it would b very usefull to use the drag and select tool and set your cords for all of the selected points. (its a bitch doing it one by one by one).

i think being able to hide certain sections of your model in point edit mode would be extremely helpful. its hard to figure out which point you need when theres a million things going on behind it.

the slider tool is very usefull. the only problem is u can only slide one point at a time. being able to slide a bunch of points at once would be awesome.

being able to color your lines in wireframe mode. i think you would be able to see things more clearly and you can see the depth alot better. it gets confusing in between your loops when your making creases and notches and whatnot.

« on: April 30, 2009, 11:20:19 pm »
this is my 2nd attempt at making a body. the 1st 1 was all hulked out and was made to be a fantasy type body. I learned alot doing it though. This time around im making it more realistic and more detailed. I havent worked on the detail part yet but im getting the basic shape for it.
and here it is.
