I have feeling that while in object mode in one file you can copy that object (in object editing mode) then paste it into the object window of another anim8or file.

Could be wrong here :)

carrara   5 is currently free    from DAZ via the animaninon site. Search for kreator on org and look at his signature.

carrara has physics.

if you want to make a simialr video to what you posted you may need a render farm though.

anim8or is good. Stick with anim8or.

Flametiger

No offence, but it doesn't work on everyone's vista.

If you re-read the parapgraph that you refferred to you will understand:

"Theoretically Anim8or should work under the Vista operating system without any problem.  However the OS and graphics drivers have a lot of new things to do to make this happen with the added complexity of Vista's new compositing desktop.  There are several things you can do if you experience problems with this.

1.  Unfortunately there are a lot of problems in many drivers.  If it's not working for you, the first thing to do is see if there is a newer driver for your graphics card.  QUite a few people have reported that a newer driver has fixed their Vista problems.

2. Another thing you can try is running Anim8or WinXP compatible mode.  Right-click on anim8or.exe in the file manager and select XP Compatible mode in the menu that pops up.  This causes Vista to run Anim8or in a mode that is more like Windows XP which more drivers can handle."

My italics.

Anim8or runs on my Vista. But it runs in a manner that makes it impossible to use.

God save you.

Hello  for a cilinder through a cube?

Make cube. Remove faces where the  cyl will go through. Group the cube with itself and this will stop you moving points.
accidently.

Mek cylinder the correct lenght and  width.
Remove end faces of cyl.
Select all edges at one end of the cyl. Extrude edges sideways at 90 dgegrres to cyl. In top view make the extruded points a  square shape the same size as the cube face. Do same with bottom of cyl.

Move cyl to  correct position. Make  cuts in the edges of the removed faces on the cube (after ungrouping cube). Aim is to line up the vertices on the cyl's new square face with your new cuts on the cube.

Join  cube and cyl. Select all verticies and marge points.

Hi in the materials window use the picture as an Emissive texture as well as the diffuse texture . Change the emissive texture from zero though.

gee I hate Vista

I can't get anim8or to work correctly because of opengl issues. Yes I've tried everything even working in a useless virtual machine. Couldn't get linux to run etce etce

To save files: when you click the edit>save file as you will be given a small window entitled "Pick a File"

There will be three boxes. The small top left one will list your direcory you are working in. The right one will have "search" greyed out. The bottom one which is the largest  might say 'This Folder is empty". This is where you would expect to save files.

To save a file you have to click on the top left hand box. Then push your keyboard key "end". this will take you to the end of the directory structure. Here you type a backsslash and the full name of your file (most oprobably including an8 as the suffix.)

You could probably get away without the backslash but I'm not sure as this is how you sepearet the name of your file from the directory stucuture.

Your other alternative is to make a file before hand eg a text file and rename it as an an8 file. You might be able to save over this file if  you can find it.

Looking forward to when I can use anim8or with vista.

Hello DSM

I'd echo all the complements! Absolutely stunning! :)

If you want c and c, the first thing I noticed is the perfection of the little holes in the chin. I assume they are  for the outlet of nerves? (foramen? my anatomy is pretty ordinary :) ). It was the prfection that stood out, that made it look cad. Then I looked at the rest of the model and realised ... it was too perfect! The teeth are straight, the symmetry is ....well.... symmetrical ;).

So if you want a c and c, I would suggest dirtying it up, getting rid of the perfect teeth, distorting one side slightly to reflect human foibles.

Or is assymetry skin deep? And are we all perfect inside after all? Just like I tell my missus....

great stuff.

cheers
