It took me a little while to see the button, too. I expected it to be down at the bottom, not in the center.

I finally figured out how to make and delete textures AND I even assigned a jpeg as a texture (does it need to be a .bmp?). Then I applied the material (supposedly) with the texture to the selected faces. THEN I pressed the UV button. Problem: The texture never shows up.
Here's the possibly stupid question: How do I actually apply the texture to the mesh? I selected all the faces to which I want to apply the texture but nothing seems to happen. How to I actually apply the material with the texture file to the selected faces? I cannot find how to do that. If the procedure for doing that is in the manual (and I just missed it) a simple notice of the page in the manual will suffice. |

Yeah, I finally saw the delete button on the material. Talk about a flat-forehead moment!

0. View the object which includes the Material you want to delete 1. Enable the viewing of the Materials menu 2. In the resulting menu of Material icons, Select (double-left-mouse-button-click on) the material you want to delete 3. In the resulting popup menu for that particular Material, Select the "Delete" button 4. In the resulting popup verification option, Select the "OK" button |

Hello, all. I've been away for a while. Got real sick and couldn't spend much time at the PC. Feeling better now and getting back into Stephen's marvelous toy. I am building the most detailed models I ever have. Crap ton (for me) of eye candy surface details.
I have a possibly stupid question about materials. (Don't believe there are stupid questions? Watch a video of Rumsfeld and the newsies during Desert Shield/Storm.) Here goes: I know how to edit a material and how to copy one. What if I am cleaning up the project and I want to delete a material? Is there a way to do that? Thanks in advance. I'll go back to my rat killing and leave you good folks alone. |

Thank you very much, this looks like what I need. I will try to figure out the scripts and how it works. You have been very helpful!

The basic way to place copies along an axis is actually to use copy/paste. You copy/paste the original object and then move it with the use of "SNAP to GRID" tool. Set the spacing as needed. Then select the two objects, copy/paste again, calculate the new spacing needed, change it in "Snap to Grid" spacing Grid settings and move. Repeat as many times needed. In some easy situations it is a solution.
Anim8or doesn't have a built in command for automation like this. But there are scripts ! You can use a "path" tool to set a path along which your object will be duplicated. Also there's a script for copying mesh ( source ) along another mesh ( target ), but I think the one with the path is what you need. Here are the links : a) For the path script Animating Tank Treads in Anim8or ( use the first script ) b) For the mesh to mesh ( most likely not for your case ) Script: Copy "Source" mesh to "Target" mesh |
