 Build->SplitSolids in main Object editor that separates unconnected parts of a mesh or subdivision surface
 Edit->Pivot->CenterPivot
 Edit->Pivot->AlignWithShape
 Edit->Pivot->AlignWithWorld

I went to my model and nothing happened when I selected an object and clicked these. What do they do and how do I use them?

A pivot is the axis system for a mesh used for rotation, scaling, etc. Center Pivot moves it to the center of a mesh, align with world rotated it to match the world axis, etc.
