edge looping
« on: July 23, 2008, 09:30:59 pm »

hi just a quick question about edge looping.

Is there an actual button built into anim8tor like right clicking and clicking a menu. I have searched the internet with multiple keywords and serched the manual but still am a little bit confused as to what to do after you have drawn the lines on. ???

I'm confused at what you mean.  Edge looping is the way in which you create faces with edges that create good loops around the model that tend to follow muscles and creases.
If you mean the process of doing poly-by-poly modeling, you draw in the edges and connect them creating quads, then select the edges and go "Edit>Fill Holes" or press "shift + j"
Still, I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, so a screenshot could help.

Edge loops are a technique of modeling.  It's the idea that the edges in your model form a loop that creates nice topology.  You can tell in someones wireframe if they have good edgelooping because of the way the edges or the faces flow into each other.  The flow should be natural, such as loops that go around the eyes.  People have round eyesockets, so it only makes sense that there would be full loops around the eyes.
Edge loops aren't a tool, they're an idea, and using proper techniques you can achieve good edge loops.

Just a hint rellik, you model is losing those edge loops it has.  The abs don't have loops!
